Pakistan Motor Rally’ to be held from October 21-31
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has announced that the Pakistan Army is organising a cross-country motor rally from October 21 to commemorate the country’s 70th year of independence.

According to the announcement, the “Pakistan Motor Rally” will be held from October 21-31.

The rally will include more than 300 jeeps, 500 bikers and 150 vintage vehicles, drawn from 23 motor clubs from across the country.

Originating from Khunjrab, at the country’s northern-most point, passing through Gilgit, Islamabad, South Waziristan, Quetta and Karachi, the rally will culminate at Gwadar after covering more than 3,000 kilometres.

“The routes and areas selected for the rally are relatively less visible, developed with extraordinary efforts and serve as seeds of prosperity for Pakistan,” the ISPR statement reads.

The rally aims to promote adventure sports and showcase the country’s tourism potential, cultural heritage and sports talent, according to the ISPR announcement.

The Pakistan Army secured a gold medal in the Exercise Cambrian Patrol competition held in the United Kingdom this month, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Friday.

According to the ISPR, this is the second successive medal Pakistan has won in the yearly exercise, while procuring four medals in total.

A total of 131 army teams from across the world participated in the event.

Known as one of the toughest patrolling tests for military personnel, the Cambrian Patrol makes its participating units cover a 80-kilometre course in less than 48 hours while performing numerous types of military exercises placed throughout the rugged Cambrian Mountains and mid-Wales.

World Bank has lauded Pakistan's efforts in achieving 10-year high growth of 5.3 percent in 2017.

The statement was made after a meeting between a Pakistani delegation led by Secretary Finance Shahid Mahmood and World Bank Vice President South Asia Region Annette Dixon in Washington.

The two sides discussed recent performance in revenue mobilization, exports and remittances.

The Bank management said World Bank will continue to support Pakistan to implement broad economic reforms and address current risks towards achieving its development targets.

The Bank agreed with the delegation that foreign portfolio investments are not part of the external financing needs of Pakistan.

KARACHI: The Bank of China (BoC) has been allowed to commence banking business in the country, said the State Bank on Monday.

This is the second Chinese bank which has been allowed to operate in Pakistan.

Earlier, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) opened two branches in Karachi and Islamabad on May 20, 2011. The ICBC provides various services including corporate finance, investment banking, foreign deposits, project loans, and working capital loans.

“In Pakistan, the BoC aims to provide specialised banking services to serve the financing needs of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) related projects by leveraging on its experience and global technology platform,” said the SBP.
