Khairpur Heritage Centre Khairpur Heritage Centre in collaboration with the Government is trying hard to create a platform by And people are tired of seeing old visiting places.

Introduction

Khairpur district, densely populated area with more than 1.6 million people, dotted with a wealth of heritage assets that have remained hidden from the public view. We have all heard of the Kot Diji Fort, as well as the prehistoric Rohri range of hills. There are other plenty of places for tourists, which they will find attractive and interesting. Khairpur used to be a Princely state

, a state of Mir’s from Talpur Dynasty. No one would disagree if we quote that Khairpur was one of the Economic Zones of Sindh. Still there is a chance of making Khairpur bread basket for the people living in it and to reinvigorate it through different ways. The incredible potential for Khairpur, where the population and economy are relatively large, is that a focused tourism product development program could have a major economic impact and truly change the paradigm of development. For fragile natural and cultural resources to survive in the long term — the nation as a whole must see benefits from conserving them. As far as the Tourism is concerned, scope of Tourism has decreased to the minimal level in Sindh and as it has never been the first choice of the people to consider for recreation, or we can say they had never given a chance to go for it. Even now a day’s people are reluctant to go for picnics anywhere, looking at the endless chaos around the country and cities. Khairpur Heritage Centre provides the opportunity to the people of Khairpur and the people across Sindh to experience the pleasure at the unseen and unexplored historical sites of the Khairpur Mirs. Takluka Kot DG: a brief introduction
The ancient site at Kot DG was the forerunner of the Indus Civilization. The people of this site lived about 3000 BC. The remains consists of two parts, the citadel area on high ground (about 12 m), and outer area. The Pakistan department of Archeology excavated at Kot DG in 1955 and 1957. Located about 22 kilometers south of Khairpur. The site is situated at the foot of Rohri Hills where a fort, Kot DG Fort was built around by 1790 by Talpur dynasty ruler of upper Sindh, Mir Sohrab who reigned from 1783 to 1830. This fort built on the ridge of a steep narrow hill is well preserved. According to 1998’s census, total population of Taluka Kot DG is 221918. Following prominent towns & villages come under the revenue jurisdiction, which need urgent attention to be preserved by the government: Kot DG, Chounro, Tando Shah, Qaim Gopang, Arbani, Nawab Wassan etc.

An architectural classic is the Faiz Mahal, built in 1798 as the palace of the Talpur family in Khairpur Mirs. Faiz Mahal was the residence of Rulers of Khairpur state.

The current descendant of the Talpur family, Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur, who acceded to the Pakistani state in 1956, is an environmentalist and has to his credit an extraordinary flora and fauna safe haven called the Mehrano, notorious for its black buck, and hog deer, both of which have turn out to be rare in Sindh, Pakistan

Sadh Belo or Sat is a pretty little island downstream of Bukkur Island and separated from it by a short stretch of river. On it is a Hindu religious establishment founded in 1823 by Swami Bakhandi Maharaj Udasi; the gaily-painted buildings are, however, more or less modern. The place is held in high esteem by Hindus throughout Sindh and even in India. The island with its two inlets, Sadh Belo and Din Belo, is shown on the official map of 1893-4; in 1912 it was accurately surveyed on the orders of the Collector

Maryam Cannon
Maryam Canon belongs to the Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur period, the founder of the Sohrabai family of Talpurs of Khairpur. This is one of the rarest pieces of the bygone era, which is on display on the old National Highway running across the town of Khairpur. According to history Maryam Cannon was discovered by Mir Bijar Khan from river Indus near Dolatpur and donated it to Mir Sohrab Khan. The gun inscribed a description in famous cannon like Saffan Saffa, Mulk Maidan etc, where taken away to Lahore sometime during the one unit period. While some are still planted in the premises of Takar Bungalow, Kot Diji, Faiz Mahal and at the main gate of DC’s House and Office at Khairpur.
