Job Summary:
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a focus on hydrology to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in grading and drainage design, along with proficiency in Civil 3D. This role will involve creating and reviewing site plans, grading and drainage designs, and ensuring all projects meet the required city and county codes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed grading plans with spot elevations for critical areas such as handicap ramps and parking.
Design drainage plans, including the location, slopes, and direction of proposed drainage systems, ensuring compliance with downstream improvements.
Prepare site plans showing utility connections, including the location, size, and invert elevations of sanitary sewer and water lines.
Coordinate with architects and builders to integrate foundation requirements with soils reports.
Create topographic maps and adjust site plans according to project coordinates.
Provide calculations for stormwater detention, runoff comparisons (pre- and post-development), and sewer and water service sizing.
Ensure compliance with City Code Chapter 17 and other relevant regulations.
Conduct field verification of existing services, including water and sewer lines, and incorporate findings into project plans.
Prepare erosion control plans and catch basin/retention computations.
Generate detailed reports and models to support grading and drainage designs.
Prepare drainage reports in accordance with county manuals and requirements using modeling data from Civil 3D.
Conduct hydraulic modeling and manage stormwater, water resources, and wastewater systems.
Collaborate with the project team to address comments and feedback from county and city reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Hydrology or related field.
1-2 years of experience in civil engineering, specifically in grading and drainage design.
Proficiency in Civil 3D is required.
Strong understanding of topography creation and site fixing according to coordinates.
Knowledge of local building codes, specifically City Code Chapter 17.
Experience with ADA compliance for handicap ramps and parking is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
