Lake is an alpine glacial lake located in the upper reaches of , valley in Upper District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the Province of .

The lake is fed by the surrounding melting glacier waters. The word Katora means "bowl" in . It was named after the lakes resemblance to a bowl shape.

THE ROAD THAT CONNECTED TWO WORLDS 🇵🇰🇨🇳

Before it became one of Pakistan’s most iconic travel routes, the Karakoram Highway was a massive engineering challenge through some of the world’s toughest mountain terrain.

Construction of the Pakistan-China highway began in the 1960s and the highway was inaugurated in 1978. It passes through the mighty Karakoram mountains and reaches the Khunjerab Pass, connecting Pakistan with China.

Thousands of Pakistani and Chinese workers worked in extremely difficult conditions, facing rockfalls, landslides, avalanches and harsh mountain weather.

Today, the KKH isn’t just a road.

It’s a journey through mountains, history, culture and adventure. 🏔️

From Hunza to Passu, Attabad to Khunjerab — every turn tells a story.
