Camille and Illiès are two directors and photographers who travel the trails of the world. They venture where they never thought they would go and set off in search of stories of a better world.

Their expedition began in 2017 in South Africa. On the road that connects the Cape of Good Hope to Cairo, Egypt, they trained in audiovisual professions and documentary film design.

At the same time, inspired by his travels, Camille wrote and published “L’enfant du désert” in 2017, a philosophical tale, followed by “Quelque chose d’Afrique du Sud”, a cultural guide published in 2020.

Sharing their films on YouTube, Camille and Illiès have brought together a community of more than 600,000 people on social networks. Their documentary “Fakirs”, on the trail of the last fakirs of southern Pakistan, broadcast in 2021, won numerous awards following its screening at festivals throughout France.

In 2019, they began a journey that would take them to Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. They would spend more than two years on these ancient lands. They recount this moving experience in their book “Terres de lumières”, a humanist and poetic tale on the road to Kashmir.

Meeting people who change your perception about a place or thought isn’t common. Our interaction with Ustad Shakeel was a coincidence as we bumped into him at a local market in Gilgit, since knew him for few years. We invited him for lunch and that turned into a 2 hours long discussion on spirituality, linguistics, anthropology and politics.

It was indeed a great conversation and he was very kind to us and shared his wealth of knowledge and wisdom.

The Kalash people are primarily practitioners of the traditional Kalasha religion, which is a form of Animism and Ancestor worship mixed with Ancient Hinduism, however a minority have converted to Islam.

The Kalash are considered to be an indigenous people of Asia, with their ancestors migrating to Afghanistan from a distant place in South Asia which the Kalash call "Tsiyam" in their folk songs and epics.
