In Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a high-altitude alpine plain (plateau) known as Deosai National Park. The Deosai National Park is situated in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Pakistan, in the western Himalayas. The park guards an area that is 843 square kilometers large (325 sq mi). It is widely renowned for the diverse flora and animals of the alpine steppe eco-region of the Karakoram-West Tibetan Plateau. It is covered in swaths of wildflowers and an assortment of butterflies in the spring.

In the Himalayan and Karakorum-Pamir highlands, where two biogeographical provinces converge, is where Deosai National Park is situated. Due to its role as a commerce route for China and between Kashmir and Gilgit, Deosai is still crucial from a strategic standpoint.
