The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, carrying 11 European tourists and two Peruvian crew members, crashed shortly after takeoff from Pisco Airport while operating a sightseeing flight over the famous Nazca Lines. Authorities said the crew had reported a mechanical problem before losing radio contact.

In response, Peru’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications has temporarily suspended Aerodiana’s operations pending a full investigation into the airline’s compliance with aviation safety regulations and operating procedures.

The tragedy highlights the critical importance of aviation safety, rigorous maintenance standards, and effective oversight in the growing sightseeing and adventure tourism sector.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is not only captivating audiences worldwide, it’s also driving a tourism boom in Favignana, a picturesque island off Sicily’s west coast that served as the film’s version of Ithaca.

Even before the film's release, the destination began attracting global attention, with travel platforms promoting stays near the filming locations.

Early estimates suggest the blockbuster could generate more than US$287 million in tourism revenue over the next three years, with long-term benefits expected to exceed US$500 million.

The success follows the tourism surge created by The White Lotus in Sicily, further highlighting how major film productions can elevate destinations, strengthen local economies, and showcase cultural heritage to millions of potential travelers.

🎥 Film tourism continues to prove that the big screen can deliver lasting economic impact far beyond the box office.

A record 237 hotels have been recognised under the Sustainable Tourism Stamp, representing a 55% increase from the previous cycle and highlighting the hospitality sector's growing commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

The programme, led by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), evaluates hotels against 19 sustainability criteria, including energy and water efficiency, waste management, responsible sourcing, employee engagement, community initiatives, and climate action.

Since its launch in 2023, the initiative has grown from 70 certified hotels in its first cycle to 237 hotels today, reflecting Dubai's continued progress toward its UAE Net Zero 2050 ambitions and a more sustainable tourism future.

Sustainability is no longer an option, it's becoming a defining standard for the future of hospitality.

The global mountaineering community is mourning the tragic loss of all 10 members of an international expedition after a devastating struck (8,047m) in Pakistan's Karakoram Range.

Among those killed was renowned British-Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja (Nims Dai), whose climbing company Elite Expeditions confirmed his death along with the loss of the entire team.

The expedition included climbers from Nepal, Pakistan, Oman, the United States, and China. The avalanche struck during their summit attempt, and despite extensive search and rescue efforts by the Pakistan Army and local high-altitude rescuers, the team could not be saved.

Purja was widely regarded as one of the greatest mountaineers of his generation, having climbed all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre peaks in a record 6 months and 6 days in 2019. He was attempting to become the first climber to summit all 14 eight-thousanders twice without supplemental oxygen.

This heartbreaking tragedy is a stark reminder of the immense risks faced by climbers in the world's highest mountains.

Our deepest condolences go to the families, friends, and the global mountaineering community during this difficult time.
