District Administration Ghanche Launches “Gorgeous Ganche” Website and Documentary to Promote Tourism

District Administration Ghanche, in collaboration with the Tourism Department, proudly launched a comprehensive new tourism website “Gorgeous Ganche” along with an inspiring documentary showcasing the hidden beauty and unexplored destinations of District Ghanche.

This initiative aims to boost both domestic and international tourism by offering visitors a digital gateway to explore the breathtaking landscapes, rich culture and unique heritage of Khaplu and other scenic areas within the district.

The Gorgeous Ganche platform serves as an all-in-one tourism hub, providing detailed travel information, stunning visuals, and curated guides to help tourists plan unforgettable journeys to the heart of Gilgit-Baltistan.

By opening doors to lesser-known gems of Ghanche, this project marks a major step in sustainable tourism development, economic upliftment and cultural preservation in the region.

A mother snow leopard and her three cubs were recently spotted in Hushay Valley, District Ghanche, a rare and exciting sighting captured on March 21, 2025, by Asif Ashoor. This remarkable event highlights the success of community-led conservation efforts in the region.Thanks to increased awareness and protection measures, snow leopards are gradually moving closer to human settlements—a positive sign for wildlife conservation. With continued community support, government initiatives, and conservation organizations, we can promote sustainable tourism while ensuring the protection of these majestic big cats.Every effort counts in preserving our natural heritage! Let’s work together to protect these elusive and endangered predators.

Gilgit-Baltistan was the top performer, winning 12 medals, including three gold, five silver and four bronze. The event was held in the Naltar valley at Pakistan’s oldest ski resort, organized by the Pakistan Air Force, National Winter Sports Association and Gilgit-Baltistan Winter Sports Association (GBWSA)

GBWSA secured gold in women’s speed skating, while GB Scouts won the men’s title & Sindh took gold in women’s figure skating.

In the relay races, GBWSA won the women’s event, GB Scouts emerged victorious in the men’s race, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) claimed the men’s curling title, and PAF won the women’s event.

The event was followed by the Seven-Day Winter Fest in Murtazabad, Hunza. Snow sports competitions in areas like Astore, Ghizer & Nagar also wrapped up recently, with winning teams from these regions joining the seven-day winter fest.
According to Zamir Abbas, the Secretary of GB Tourism and Culture, the government of Gilgit-Baltistan, in collaboration with local communities and NGOs, has been organizing winter festivals for several years. These events aim to promote tourism, enhance the skills of local athletes, and provide entertainment. Additionally, they contribute to boosting the local economy and attracting more tourists to the region.
