Sohail Sakhi Found โ A Moment of Relief and Sorrow ๐๏ธ
After days of uncertainty and heartbreaking silence, there is finally a development in the search for Pakistani mountaineer Sohail Sakhi.
The body of Sohail Sakhi has been recovered from Broad Peak by local volunteers from the Tissar/Shigar area. Sohail had been missing since the devastating avalanche on July 30, 2026, which struck the international expedition on Broad Peak.
According to the latest reports, three brave local volunteers โ Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Bashir, and Abuzar โ took the initiative to search for Sohail despite the difficult and dangerous conditions. They located his remains at an altitude of approximately 5,600 meters, near the Camp 1/Advanced Base Camp area. With limited equipment, including a snow shovel, they carefully recovered the body and helped carry it toward base camp.
Their courage, compassion, and determination deserve our deepest respect. At a time when the mountain remained dangerous and the recovery operation was extremely challenging, these local volunteers stepped forward to bring Sohail home.
For his family, friends, fellow climbers, and the wider mountaineering community, this news brings a painful but important sense of closure. Sohail was not only an experienced high-altitude mountaineer and guide from Hunza, but also a passionate son of the mountains who dedicated his life to the peaks he loved.
From THE IBEX TREKS AND TOURS, we extend our deepest condolences to Sohail Sakhi's family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew and admired him.
May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and give his family patience and strength.
