🇬🇧In less than a month, our Northern Lights and Whales expeditions begin — and one of the main stars will be the humpback whales.
These huge, incredibly active whales come to Northern Norway following the herring shoals. In Kvænangen, we watch them from the deck of Azimuth, listen to them through a hydrophone and photograph them in the Arctic landscape.
A new article about humpback whales is now available in our Arctic Land section — about their migrations, songs, feeding behaviour and our encounters with them during our expeditions.

🇵🇱 Za niecały miesiąc ruszają nasze wyprawy Zorze i Wieloryby — a jednym z ich głównych bohaterów będą humbaki.
Te ogromne, niezwykle aktywne wieloryby przypływają do północnej Norwegii za ławicami śledzi. W Kvænangen obserwujemy je z pokładu Azimutha, słuchamy ich przez hydrofon i fotografujemy w arktycznym krajobrazie.

🇬🇧 Orcas – intelligent, family-oriented and endlessly fascinating.
Every winter, we encounter entire groups of orcas in the waters of Kvænangen, especially around Spildra Island. They swim close to our yacht, hunt herring, communicate, teach their young and often approach us on their own.
The longer we observe them, the more fascinating they become.

🇬🇧Puffins are among the most distinctive and photogenic birds of the Arctic. Their colourful beaks, black-and-white plumage and slightly comical way of moving make them impossible to ignore.
In Svalbard, we encounter them mainly along rocky coastlines and cliffs, where they form breeding colonies during the summer season. From the deck of our yacht, we have a unique opportunity to observe them up close – flying just above the water, resting on the rocks, and returning from the sea with their beaks full of fish.
Encounters like these reveal the wild and extraordinary character of Spitsbergen better than anything else. We invite you to explore our gallery of the most beautiful puffin photographs from Svalbard – small, colourful inhabitants of the great Arctic.
