A wonderful visit to Nekla, where we were able to discover the exact place where Janet's ancestors lived before emigrating to Australia in the 19th century.

It went from a potential dead end to a treasure trove! This is what successful genealogical research looks like. 🤩🥰
Robin and her husband almost traveled to Międzyrzecz, a town in western Poland, but our tenacious research pointed us to the correct town: Międzyrzec Podlaski.
It’s 300 miles farther east and not 19th-century Germany, but Russia! 🤯

Persistence paid off. We had the immense joy of finding her ancestors’ records in these beautiful 19th-century books at the Radzyń Podlaski Archives. 😍

A huge thank you to Mr Marek for a great tour around Międzyrzec Podlaski and the State Archive Team for their incredible help! 🎯

We all felt great being able to connect with the past in such a tangible way.

What a joy to guide Heather Stefaniak and her family on their journey back to their Polish roots! 🇺🇸➡️🇵🇱

We spent an incredible day in Poznań yesterday. Despite the rain, we had a great time.
We balanced genealogical research on the Stefaniak and Joachymczak families, and we also enjoyed the city's attractions, from the famous goats to the military tanks at the Citadel.

The most powerful part of their story is today: they meet their Polish cousins for the very first time! ❤️ but let’s keep this part private only for them. 😇

Still thinking about the Chełmoński exhibition in
It changed how I see his art.
I went in expecting beautiful paintings but left with a deep sense of what the przednówek (the pre-harvest „hungry gap”) truly meant for the Polish countryside. It was a time of real hardship.

Then you look at his iconic painting „Storks” („Bociany”). You realize they were more than just birds; they were the symbol that the struggle was ending. Their arrival was a collective sigh of relief and a promise of life.

A powerful lesson in art and history, all in one.

📍Stalag Luft III | Żagań | Western Poland

From peaceful trails in Góry Stołowe to the silent remains of Stalag Luft III, this journey is a deep reminder that travel is not only about landscapes — it’s about memory.

This is the site of the Great Escape, one of WWII’s most daring prisoner breakouts.
Today, the forest has reclaimed much of the area, but the stories still speak — of courage, resilience and sacrifice.

We include stops like this on our private ancestry tours and custom history trips, because history becomes real when you stand where it happened.

Tomorrow, the journey continues to Berlin — from remembrance to renewal.
