When visiting Krakow, you must visit the picturesque Tyniec 🇵🇱

🧡 Tyniec is located in the western part of Krakow, on the right bank of the Vistula River.

🧡 This place is known mainly due to the Benedictine monastery that has existed here since 1044. This is one of the oldest monasteries in Poland! Over the centuries, it went through periods of prosperity and stagnation, up to the dissolution in 1816 and the refund in 1939.

🧡 Today, wonderfully raised from its ruins, is open to visitors who wish to experience the living Benedictine tradition and extraordinary spirituality. The rich history and centuries-old tradition make this abbey, together with the museum, a unique place through which we will discover Polish history, culture and art. In terms of architecture, the monastery combines Roman austerity with gothic lightness, but also with baroque splendor.

🧡 Tyniec is not only history, but also the present day. It is shaped by the largest Benedictine community in Poland. The rhythm of the community is determined by the hours of prayer and work, in accordance with the rule of St. Benedict - "Ora et labora" (Pray and work). Half a century ago, the Millennium Bible was published - the Polish translation of the Bible from the original languages. The translation initiative came from the abbey in Tyniec. It was the first Catholic Church to translate the entire Bible into Polish in over 350 years.

🧡 Today, the monastery welcomes both pilgrims and tourists. It is a place of meeting and dialogue.

Neptune's Fountain is a historic fountain and one of the symbols of Gdańsk ⛲️

The fountain is located on the Long Market. It is a bronze statue of the Roman god of the sea. It was built in 1617 according to the design of the Flemish architect Abraham van den Blocke, who was the author of other noteworthy monuments of Gdańsk's old town, such as the nearby Artus Court, the Golden House and the Royal Granary. The statue was converted into a fountain in 1633. The Neptune statue was cast in Augsburg by Peter Husen and Johann Rogge. In 1634, the fountain was fenced with a fence decorated with gilded Polish eagles, also designed by Van Den Blocke. During World War II, this symbol of Gdańsk was dismantled and hidden along with many other treasures of the city. It was only returned to its rightful place in 1954, and then it was finally restored in 2011/12.
