Thinking of a staycation? Try Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Located in Blackpool in the north of the UK and on the coast of the Irish Sea, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the oldest theme parks in the UK and one of the most famous the UK has to offer!

Featuring the Big One (the longest rollercoaster in Europe and one of the tallest in the UK), Icon (a modern double launch coaster), Valhalla (considered both one of the world's best water and dark rides) and Aviktas (a brand new gyro swing ride for 2026 that opens later this month!) as the stand out rides there.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach also includes multiple classic and historical rides including Big Dipper, Grand National, Ghost Train, Derby Racer and the Flying Machines. The park offers a Wallace and Gromit dark ride and a Nickelodeon Land for families to enjoy.

Other attractions in Blackpool include Sandcastle Waterpark (one of the biggest in the UK), it's sandy beach, Blackpool Zoo, Blackpool Tower, the three historical piers it has, Madame Tussauds, Blackpool Tower Dungeon and SeaLife Centre.

If you're considering somewhere a bit different, with different options nearby and easy to get to by both car or train, Blackpool is the perfect staycation destination!

Ready to explore some new worlds this year?

Phantasialand Awaits!

Located in Bruhl, Germany, near to Cologne. This is a theme park you can easily combine with a trip to the city of Cologne.

You can catch a train or tram to Bruhl from Cologne Central Station. The train takes approximately 10 minutes and the tram takes 20 minutes. Once in Bruhl, you can catch a shuttle bus to the park which takes approximately 20 minutes. Phantasialand is very easy to get to by public transport.

One of the most well themed theme parks in the world, Phantasialand features immersive themed worlds and world class thrill rides.

You can race through Klugheim on Taron (the fastest multi launch coaster in Europe), have a splash in Mexico on Chiapas (considered one of the world's best log flumes) and fly through Rookburgh on FLY (a unique launched flying coaster), Phantasialand is not to be missed!

Other rides include Colorado Adventure (a mine train coaster that originally beared Michael Jackson's name), Black Mamba (an inverted coaster where you speed through Africa), Winjas Fear and Force (two very unique indoor spinning coasters) and River Quest (a river rapids ride with a whirlpool and a drop).

In addition, Cologne itself features it's stunning cathedral, the Lindt Chocolate Museum and it's wealth of art galleries and museums in it's city centre

If you're looking for a theme park that will absolutely blow your mind and is unlike anything you've been before, Phantasialand is the perfect destination!

Looking for somewhere different this summer?

Have a look at Energylandia!

Located in Zator, Poland. Energylandia is approximately 1 hour away from Krakow by either car, bus or train.

Energylandia has the highest amount of rollercoasters at any theme park in the world jointly with Six Flags Magic Mountain

Highlights include Zadra and Hyperion! Other rollercoasters offered include Speed, Formula, Abyssus, Choco Chip Creek and a fantastic range of family and thrill coasters.

Energylandia also features a great range of attractions for both families and thrillseekers along with an on-site outdoor water park.

It is not to be missed and I'd highly recommend a visit to Energylandia this summer!

There's plenty more to explore out there! 👀

This is The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland, a Mack Rides Xtreme Spinning Coaster that is themed to the Tomorrowland Music Festival (one of the best known music festivals in the world). It is located at Plopsaland Belgium in De Panne, Belgium.

Plopsaland is 45 minutes from Calais by car and over two hours from Brussels Airport by train.

The Ride to Happiness is considered one of the world's best rollercoasters and I currently consider this my personal number one coaster!

This is not to be missed and I'd highly recommend looking at a trip to ride it as soon as possible!

There is so much more than the rollercoasters in the UK 😀

The theme park season is just getting started and you may be thinking about your trips during 2026 and beyond 👀

Some of you might be thinking, let's have a trip to Alton Towers 🤔 I'm here to show you some of the theme parks from Europe which are fantastic and at times, even better!

Here's some of my reasons why I'd recommend Europe over Alton Towers. I will go into this in more detail in the comments.
