IMPRESIONANTE La Fosa de Puerto Rico. ⛰️🇵🇷 Es una depresión submarina en el Océano Atlántico Norte, aproximadamente paralela a la costa norte de la isla de Puerto Rico y situada a unas 75 millas (120 km) al norte. Tiene aproximadamente 1,090 millas (1,750 km) de largo y 60 millas (100 km) de ancho. El punto más profundo del océano Atlántico, la profundidad de Milwaukee, se encuentra a una profundidad de 27,493 pies (8,380 m) en el extremo occidental de la fosa, a unas 100 millas (160 km) al noroeste de Puerto Rico. El origen de la fosa se remonta al comienzo de la Era Cenozoica (hace unos 65 millones de años). La Fosa de Puerto Rico parece ser parte de un complejo sistema de fallas de rumbo sinistral en el norte del Caribe; la trinchera parece haber estado abierta continuamente durante unos 70 millones de años. Está parcialmente lleno de sedimentos. The deepest point in the Atlantic Ocean, the Milwaukee Depth, lies at a depth of 27,493 feet (8,380 m) in the western end of the trench, about 100 miles (160 km) northwest of Puerto Rico. The origin of the trench can be traced back to the beginning of the Cenozoic Era (about 65 million years ago). The Puerto Rico Trench appears to be part of a complex system of sinistral strike-slip faults in the north Caribbean; the trench seems to have been open continuously for about 70 million years.
