ALGARVE`S MUNICIPAL MARKETS (try to read the text to the end)
From Loulé Market, inaugurated in 1908, to the Olhão Market of 1916, and never missing Lagos Market, inaugurated in 1925, the municipal markets in the Algarve are true meeting points, centers of culture, colors, aromas, freshness, and tradition.
The architecture of these buildings is beautiful.
In my opinion, municipal markets are the best places to find fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced products, often produced by small local producers who are so important to the local community.
They are also that meeting point for locals for that morning chat with that coffee or even that typical Portuguese gossip.
These municipal markets are, in my opinion, must-see places for anyone visiting us and for anyone who wants to experience the authentic Algarve. They generally operate from Monday to Saturday, but Saturday mornings are special and more vibrant.
What you will find in our markets:
Fresh, colorful, and high-quality products, fruits, dried fruits, products from our mountains and hills, cheeses, vegetables, organic products, fish, seafood, meats, and local handicrafts.
These are places that offer us the charm of traditional commerce, combining it with gourmet products.
I love the saturday municipal markets. There´s a different vibe in the air.
Another thing you will find and feel is the close relationship between buyers and sellers, maintaining the atmosphere of a traditional neighborhood market. Unique.
❓🤔 Some were built in a very Portuguese style. Do you know what architectural style I am talking about ?
Note: some photos were taken by me, some were taken by local press.
Greetings from the Algarve 🌞😎
