✨ Being a tour guide isn’t just a job , it’s my passion, my joy, and my way of sharing the love I have for my beautiful country. 💚❤️
And if there’s one place that has my heart, it’s magical Sintra. 🌿🏰
Usually, I welcome travelers as friends or family… but this week, I had the special joy of showing my real friends and family around my favorite place.
Seeing Sintra through their eyes made it all the more special. Grateful, always. 🌟

Reconnaissante toujours. 🌟

🇵🇹 June 10 🇵🇹 Portugal Day
A national holiday celebrating 🇵🇹 Portugal, its culture, Luís de Camões, the iconic poet and honors Portuguese communities around the world. 🌍✨
Yesterday, a Portuguese author, Lidia Jorge, delivered one of the best speeches ever.
A speech that the whole world needs to read, to hear. Food for thought.
“It is said that in the 17th century, 10% of the Portuguese population had African origins.
That population had not invaded us. The Portuguese had brought them here, dragged. And we intermingled.
Which means that no one here has pure blood. The fallacy of a single lineage does not match reality. Each of us is a sum.
We have the blood of the native and the migrant, the European and the African, the white and the Black, and of all other human colors. We are descendants of both the slave and the master who enslaved him. Children of the pirate and the one who was robbed. A mix of the one who punished to death and the merciful one who cleaned his wounds.
Awareness of this anthropological adventure might ease the revisionist fury that grips us from the extremes nowadays, all over the world.”

🇬🇧
I do this with heart in every tour, every story, every traveler. ✨
This isn’t just a job for me, it’s a calling. In a competitive industry I choose to keep it personal, real, and unforgettable.

Every traveler is welcomed like a friend, like family. We share culture, laughs, meaningful moments, and sometimes we stay in touch long after the journey ends. 🌍💚

I bring knowledge, professionalism, and passion, but also love, warmth, and connection. This is more than sightseeing. It’s an experience you’ll feel.

🇫🇷

Tomorrow is the International Day of Tauromachia and we stand firmly against it.
At XPLORATOUR we believe that no tradition justifies cruelty. Bullfighting is not culture it’s torture.

We do not support or promote any activity that harms animals.
Our tours are built on respect for all life, we proudly choose compassion over cruelty.

Say no to animal abuse. Say no to bullfighting.

🇬🇧Pena Palace isn’t just a fairytale palace, it’s a symbol of Portugal’s soul.
At its entrance, the mythological god Triton guards the threshold between land and sea, just like in Camões’ The Lusiads, where gods and legends guide Portugal’s explorers across the unknown.
This Romantic masterpiece in Sintra blends history, poetry, and myth, reminding us that every stone tells a story , and every wave hides a legend.
Fun fact: I own a copy of Os Lusíadas printed in 1572 (the original edition). A true treasure of Portuguese literature. Check the pictures 😍

Twelve years ago, I dreamed of creating something different.
Not mass tourism. Not scripts.
Just real experiences, with real people.
Xploratour was born from a love of Portugal and a desire to share it in a way that feels personal, human, and unforgettable.
We’re not for everyone—and that’s the point.
We welcome travelers, not tourists.
People who value connection, culture, and care.
People who want to be welcomed like friends, not customers.
What we offer isn’t luxury in the traditional sense.
Our luxury is knowledge. Time. Presence.
The joy of sharing what we love—with those who truly want to discover it.
If that sounds like you…
Welcome. You’re in the right place.

🇫🇷
Bienvenue. Vous êtes au bon endroit.

Yesterday took an unexpected turn — 12 hours without power, internet, or phone service across parts of Europe. We had just arrived in beautiful Sintra, Portugal, with an amazing group of ladies ready to explore… and suddenly, everything stopped.

But we adapted. We swapped monuments for the ocean, swapped plans for presence. We shared stories, laughter, and white wine by the beach.

Sometimes, the best memories come from the most unexpected moments. Thank you, ladies, for turning a wild day into something truly special.

Join us in Portugal — come for the sights, stay for the moments.

Why should I hire a guide?
Traveling is all about experiences, but sometimes, navigating a new place can be overwhelming. Whether you’re looking to dive deeper into the culture, skip the tourist traps, or just make the most out of your time, hiring a guide for at least one day can make all the difference. Here’s why it’s worth it:
1. Local Insight You Won’t Find Online
Hiring a private guide for just one day gives you access to insider knowledge that you won’t find in a guidebook or on Google. We’re locals, so we know all the hidden spots, off-the-beaten-path attractions, and cool places that aren’t packed with tourists. Instead of following a crowd, you get to experience the destination in a more authentic way.

2. Skip the Stress & Save Time
Traveling can be hectic, especially if you’re trying to figure out public transport, decipher local maps, or plan your day on the fly. With a private guide, you don’t have to worry about any of that. We’ve got everything sorted – from the best routes to the must-see spots. Plus, we’ll make sure you don’t waste time standing in long lines or getting lost.
3. Personalization & Flexibility
One of the best parts of having a private guide is how tailored the experience is. Whether you’re into history, food, art, or adventure, we can create an itinerary that fits your interests. You’re not stuck with a generic tour schedule, and if you want to change things up mid-day, it’s no big deal. Your time is your own, and we’ll make sure it counts.
4. Dive Deeper Into the Culture
As a guide, I’m not just here to show you the sights – I’m here to help you really understand the place you’re visiting. We can chat about the local history, the cultural significance of certain spots, or even share personal stories. You’ll leave with a deeper connection to the destination than you would if you were just walking around solo or on a group tour.

Quinta da Regaleira is a labyrinth of secrets nestled in the mystical hills of Sintra, where every stone whispers ancient tales. Its enchanted gardens, with hidden grottoes and twisting paths, lead to the subterranean depths of the Initiation Well—a spiral into the unknown. Towering trees, ivy-clad ruins, and symbolic architecture invite visitors to wander through a world where alchemy, mysticism, and the occult intertwine, offering a glimpse into a forgotten realm of wonder.

They say beauty is found in the interior… and in this particular case, it couldn’t be more accurate. Every year, many travelers pass by our monuments and buildings that have marked our history, admiring their facades and the grandeur of their structures. However, how many of these millions have had the privilege of seeing the “interior” of Portugal, in the deepest sense of the word?

Beneath the surface, Portugal hides a vast natural and mineral heritage, often unknown even to us. From caves and grottos with spectacular rock formations to historically and geologically valuable mines, what lies beneath our feet is as fascinating as what we see on the surface. The interior of Portuguese soil is rich in natural resources, and studying it reveals layers of history dating back thousands of years, with traces of ancient civilizations, fossils, and an impressive geological diversity.

How many have had the privilege of descending into the depths of our land and discovering the beauty hidden in its subterranean labyrinths? The interior of Portugal, in its subsoil, is a world apart, a source of mysteries and riches that often escape the superficial gaze but hold within them a unique and unexplored charm.
