🇵🇹 A época das grandes baleias continua! Nas últimas saídas avistámos várias baleias-azuis (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴), baleias-comuns (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘴) e baleias-de-bossa (𝘔𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘦).
Também observámos as três espécies residentes de golfinhos: roazes (𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴), comuns (𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘴), e grampos (𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘴). Para além dos cetáceos, encontrámos também um peixe-lua (𝘔𝘰𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘱.), caravelas-portuguesas (𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴) e um moleiro-grande (𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘴 𝘴𝘬𝘶𝘢), uma ave marinha conhecida por roubar peixe a outras aves.

🇬🇧 The season of the great whales is still underway! During our last few trips, we sighted several blue whales (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴), fin whales (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘴) and humpback whales (𝘔𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘦).
We also observed our three resident dolphin species: bottlenose dolphins (𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴), common dolphins (𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘴), and Risso's dolphins (𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘴). Besides cetaceans, we also encountered a sunfish (𝘔𝘰𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘱.), several portuguese man-of-war (𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴) and a great skua (𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘴 𝘴𝘬𝘶𝘢), a seabird known for stealing fish from other birds.

🇬🇧 On our last trip, we observed five species of cetaceans! We started with three of the largest whales on the planet: blue whales (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴), fin whales (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘴), and sei whales (𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴) - an exciting combination for a single trip. Interestingly, whales have been observed remarkably close to shore in recent weeks (take a look at the blue whale photo). We also encountered a group of bottlenose dolphins (𝘛𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴) and a group of Risso’s dolphins (𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘴) with a newborn calf.

Despite challenging weather conditions that have kept us ashore for many days, every trip this year has been a success!
