🌳 Dia da Floresta Autóctone 🌳
Este ano, com a Escola Básica e Jardim de Infância de Cabril, celebramos esta data de forma especial: contribuindo diretamente para o trabalho do LIFE WILD WOLF na conservação do habitat do Lobo Ibérico em Portugal.
A nossa jornada começou na viagem de Cabril até ao Centro de Educação Ambiental do Vidoeiro. A estrada panorâmica que liga Trás-os-Montes ao Minho ofereceu-nos o primeiro mergulho nos magníficos carvalhais do Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês.
No Vidoeiro, fomos recebidos com enorme simpatia pelo Francisco Alvares e Marta Oliveira, da equipa LIFE,
https://lifewildwolf.at.biopolis.pt/ e pela Senhora Alice Ferreira, do Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e Florestas. Esta recepção calorosa preparou-nos para a missão do dia.
A partir da Portela de Leonte, partimos em busca de Chamaecyparis - uma ação essencial para impedir a propagação desta espécie exótica com caráter invasor. O dia foi um verdadeiro mergulho no conhecimento: biodiversidade, ecossistemas, conservação, habitat, monocultura… conceitos que ganharam novo significado para nós.
Para terminar em beleza, fomos guiados pela exposição “Tesouros da nossa Terra”, um trabalho do Agrupamento de Escolas de Terras de Bouro.

Native Forest Day
This year, together with the Cabril Primary School and Kindergarten, we celebrated this date in a special way: by directly contributing to the work of LIFE WILD WOLF in conserving the habitat of the Iberian Wolf in Portugal.
Our journey began on the trip from Cabril to the Environmental Education Centre of Vidoeiro. The panoramic road connecting Trás-os-Montes to Minho offered us our first immersion in the magnificent oak forests of the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
In Vidoeiro, we were warmly welcomed by Francisco Álvares and Marta Oliveira from the LIFE team, and by Mrs. Alice Ferreira from ICNF. This warm reception prepared us for the day’s mission.
From Portela de Leonte, we set out in search of Chamaecyparis — an essential action to prevent the spread of this exotic invasive species, which threatens the survival of native plants and the balance of the ecosystem.
The day became a true immersion into learning: biodiversity, ecosystems, conservation, habitat, monoculture… concepts that gained new meaning for all of us.
To finish on a high note, we visited the exhibition "Treasures of Our Land", a project by the Terras de Bouro School Group, created with the participation of the entire school community. We were delighted with all the animals represented!

We left with full hearts and the certainty that protecting nature is a mission we all share.
