We never tire of taking our own photos to capture the joy of discovering this island through the experiences of our visitors. The great thing about this job for us is that we end up being on holiday while everyone else is on holiday! 😉

Look who we managed to photograph during one of our treks! He was clearly ready for the camera, proudly showing off his best outfit.

Known in Portuguese as the 'Tentilhão-dos-Açores' (Fringilla moreletti), this beautiful bird is endemic to the Azores and closely related to other chaffinch species found across the Macaronesian archipelagos, including Madeira (Fringilla maderensis) and the Canary Islands (Fringilla canariensis).

Being at the bottom of 'Caldeira do Faial' feels like stepping into a bubble, far removed from civilization. With no network coverage (that is true!!), it's the perfect place to escape into an unusual silence from this frenetic life we live nowadays. In 'Caldeira' all you hear is (now, I’ll share my poetic self) your breath, the rustle of leaves, and the deep vibrations from different bird species voices!

𝐇𝐨𝐣𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬 𝐨 𝐃𝐢𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐈𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐚! Este pequeno paraíso no meio do Atlântico Norte, num ano em que a região comemora também os 50 anos da sua autonomia.

O percurso dos Açores é tão rico e diverso que, desde o início, na ENDEMIC, soubemos que tínhamos de encontrar uma forma de dar a conhecer a vertente histórica e cultural deste arquipélago. Assim, criámos um tour que revela um pouco desse legado através de passeios a pé pela cidade da Horta. Muito mais do que um simples espaço urbano, a Horta é a harmonia entre a presença humana e o meio natural.

Estas fotos são antigas, de uma altura em que os nossos amigos e família serviram de modelos fotográficos e críticos de conteúdo. Obrigado por alinharem nestas aventuras e por percorrerem connosco este caminho, ajudando-nos a melhorar o nosso 'City Tour'.

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨?

As marine biologists, we’re passionate about sharing what we studied in our tours. That’s why, more than a decade ago, we started our 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫 visiting a Cory’s shearwater (called 'cagarros' in the Azores) colony in Faial.

In this activity, we invite our guests to embark on a nocturnal trip where we try to:

* Listen to the shrill sounds of these seabirds as soon as the sun goes down
* Learn to identify females from males through their sounds
* Watch them rest at the foot of their nests
* Understand their behaviours when in the colony

𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄! Mas cada gota de suor e cada dor nas pernas do dia seguinte valem a pena. A Caldeira Central do Faial é uma Reserva Natural que guarda uma das experiências mais impressionantes da região, um lugar que parece ter parado no tempo, intocado.. Uma natureza vertiginosa, onde as espécies nativas e endémicas continuam a vencer as invasoras exóticas!

Esta é uma atividade para pessoas ativas fisicamente, realizada em grupos pequenos. 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬 à 𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐜ê𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭é 𝐥á 𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐱𝐨! 𝐀𝐥𝐠𝐮𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐨?
