And that's how it all started. 💛

That's Simão... the founder of Choose Your Route, and still one of the guides you might meet on tour. 😊

This is his story… and the beginning of ours.

One friend. One favour. One afternoon he never forgot.

He didn't plan to build a company that day. He was just showing people he cared about the Algarve he loves.

But sometimes the biggest things start from the smallest moments...
a simple "yes", and a few words at the end of the day that changed everything.

We officially started in 2019.
And 7 years later, that one afternoon has become more than 12,143 travellers, thousands of memories, and friendships all over the world. 🌍

And none of it would exist without you.
You became part of the story. 🥂

So this isn't just our anniversary.
It's ours... together.

Thank you for 7 years. Here's to many more. 💛

Everyone comes to the Algarve for the beach. Almost nobody comes here!? 🤔
This is Estói. A small, quiet village just a few minutes from Faro. And it's full of surprises.

First, the old church.
Simple on the outside, full of history on the inside. Rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1755, it has watched over this village for hundreds of years.

Then, the palace.
Right in the middle of this tiny village, there's a palace with romantic gardens, old statues, and beautiful tiles. It feels like something from a fairy tale.

And in between?
The village itself. White houses. Narrow streets. Quiet corners. The kind of place where time slows down. 🤍
No crowds. No noise. Just you and a slower, older Algarve.
This is the Algarve most people never see. Not the beach. The soul.

Something strange is happening in the Algarve… 👀😅

People keep seeing the same thing. Again and again. In different places, all over the coast.

A number.
The number 7. 🤔

What does it mean?
We're not sure yet… but we have a feeling something is coming.

There is a cemetery on this beach. ⚓

Not of people. Of anchors.

There are many of them, standing in the sand, facing the sea. And each one has a story that most people here never hear.

This is Praia do Barril, on Tavira Island. To get here, you walk across the Ria Formosa… or you take a small train on tracks that are almost 100 years old. 🚂

These tracks were not made for tourists. They were made for fish.

Many years ago, this beach was not a beach. It was a small fishing village. Whole families lived here and caught tuna from the sea. The train carried the fish. The anchors held the fishing nets.

Then, in the 1960s, the tuna went away. The families left. And the work stopped for good.

But the anchors stayed. So the people stood them up in the sand.... one for every net they would never use again. A quiet way to remember a life that is now gone. 🖤

Today, Barril is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. Golden sand. Calm, clear water. A Blue Flag beach since 1987.

But walk past the anchors… and you will feel it. This place remembers.

Would you jump?
This is Algar Seco, in Carvoeiro. One of the most famous places in the whole Algarve to jump into the sea. People have jumped from these cliffs for a very long time.

Picture it. You stand on the edge. Your heart beats fast. You look down at the blue water… and you jump. That feeling? There's nothing like it. ❤️‍🔥

But here's the honest part: you can't always jump.

The sea changes every day. Some days it's calm and clear and perfect. Some days the wind and waves are not safe… and on those days, we don't jump at all.

There are very high spots here too. We choose the lower, safer ones… same feeling, no big risk.
And we always check the sea and the weather first. If it's not safe, there's no jump that day. And that's okay. 😉

In Tavira, there is a bridge where the river changes its name.
On one side, it's called Séqua. Cross to the other side… and it becomes the Gilão. Same water. Two names. One old love story behind it…. we'll tell you soon. 👀
That is Tavira. A town where even the river has a secret.

Get lost in these streets and you'll see why we love it. White houses. Quiet squares. Little churches on almost every corner… the town has 21 of them.

Look up, and you'll spot the rooftops found almost nowhere else in Portugal. Look down, and every cobbled street pulls you somewhere new.

Come for one day, or stay for many. Tavira gives you more the longer you look.

Every beautiful place has a story. This one is dark. 🖤
This is Pego do Inferno. In English, the name means "Hell's Pool"… and some even call it the "Pit of Hell."

A hidden waterfall near Tavira, in the Algarve…
with a very dark name, and an old legend to match.

They say that long ago, a horse and carriage came along this path.
We don't know who they were. We only know they never arrived.

The carriage went into the water. The horses. The people. Everything.
And then… nothing. No trace was ever found. Not the carriage, not the animals, not a single person.

The pool kept its secret. And people began to wonder how deep it really was.
Some said it had no bottom at all. That the water did not end in the ground…
but somewhere much darker. 🔥

And so this quiet, beautiful pool kept its name: Pego do Inferno.

Look at it now, though. Calm. Green. Beautiful. Hard to believe it carries a story this old.

This is the Algarve most people never see. Old legends, quiet corners, “hidden” places…
That is what we love to show our travellers.

Pego do Inferno (Hell's Pool / Pit of Hell). 🔥
The waterfall's back in all its glory, the pool's glowing that impossible shade of emerald green, and it's easily one of the most magical hidden corners of the whole Algarve.

So how did somewhere this beautiful end up with a name this dark? 👀

There's a legend behind it. A proper one… and we're telling it this Thursday.
