Behind these elegant arches and traditional Portuguese tiles lies an important chapter in the history of justice in Lagos. ⚖️🏛️
Lagos’ Palácio da Justiça was built in 1968, following a design by architect Luís Amoroso Lopes, and officially inaugurated on May 10, 1969. A late example of the Português Suave style, the building combines modern construction with traditional Portuguese architectural elements.
Before having its own courthouse, Lagos’ judicial services had operated in several historic buildings around the city — making this place part of a much longer story of justice in Lagos.
