Sealife has specialised in dolphin watching on the Atlantic Ocean for over 15 years. We are operating from the marina of Lagos in the Algarve, the southern district of Portugal. We organise ocean safaris onboard our rigid inflatable boats and our 11m fast Catamaran, with the objective of showing you wild dolphins in their natural environment or other ocean wildlife such as whales, porpoises, turtl

es, sunfish or sharks. Our passionate team realised that we can try and do more than taking clients out to see the fabulous marine wildlife and so, the new Sealife Awareness Centre & Eco Shop was born! It's a space where we can display our collected data and also teach people in more detail about these wonderful creatures, hopefully raising more awareness for their protection and conservation of their habitat! Since Sept 2024, you can access the cave and see it in its natural glory and beauty without massive crowds inside taking away the splendour!
Because Sealife is not only about dolphins (although we looooooove them!!!) but everything Ocean life & Ocean views!

Desde setembro de 2024 que se pode aceder à gruta e simplesmente apreciar a sua beleza e glória sem multidões lá dentro a retirar o esplendor!
Porque a Sealife não é apenas golfinhos (apesar de os adorarmoooooos!!!) mas tudo o que é Vida Marinha e Beleza Marinha!

Come the low season -> time to catch up on our "computer work" but also to test new "toys" 🤗
Last sunday was just that!!!!

With our new "Dolphin ear" we set out with no clients on board! Not long we found a pod of +40 Risso's dolphins:
1) not a species we see often 🤩
2) when we do see them, usually ~10 animals
3) just ~3nm south of Praia da Luz
4) what were the chances of testing the hydrophone with them???

Results: took a few tries but in the end
☆ a few clicks
☆ 1 whistle
☆ quite a few full breaches -> not often seen (usually will vertical breach w/ tail always under water)
☆ at least 4 different calves
☆ lobtailing -> also not often seen

Conclusion:
an awesome sunday afternoon spent!!!!
Aproxima-se o inverno -> tempo de "trabalho de computador" e testar "brinquedos" novos 🤗
Este último domingo serviu para isso mesmo!!!

Com o nosso hidrofone "Dolphin ear" partimos, sem clientes a bordo, em busca de golfinhos. Quase de imediato, encontrámos um grupo de +40 Grampos:
1) uma espécie que vemos muito pouco
2) quando a escontramos, normalmente são grupos de ~10 animais
3) apenas 3mn a sul da Luz
4) Quais as chances de testar o brinquedo com esta sp.???

Resultados: levou algum tempo mas
☆ alguns clicks
☆ 1 assobio
☆ alguns saltos "completos" -> o salto típico é vertical e a barbatana caudal não sai da água
☆ pelo menos 4 crias diferentes
☆ "lobtailing" -> barbatana caudal fora de água, com o resto do corpo submergido

Conclusão:
Uma tarde de domingo muito bem passada!!!

Yesterday we had a rare sighting of a Humpback whale. It's hard to describe how beautiful this moment was, and the videos can't do justice to what we witnessed. One thing is for sure, everyone on these trips will remember this moment for life 🐳🤍

Those who we have taken out over the years will have probably had the pleasure of meeting this lovely lady Mafalda.
Our beautiful friend and Sealife family member retires from us today after dedicating 13 years, and helping to make Sealife the amazing company it is today. We thank you for everything you have done and all the people you have helped have unforgettable moments out on the ocean. We love you Mafalda and will miss you😘 😘

Our Story

Sealife has specialized in dolphin watching on the Atlantic Ocean from the beautiful town of Lagos for over 14 years. We are operating from the Marina of Lagos in the Algarve, the southern district of Portugal, all year round, weather permitting.

We organize ocean safaris onboard our RIB’s and our 12m Catamaran, with the objective of showing you wild dolphins in their natural environment or other ocean wildlife such as whales, porpoises, turtles, sunfish or sharks. We are able to provide you with a tour of higher quality than others due to our highly experienced Marine Biologists on every trip. Our passionate team realized that we can try and do more than taking clients out to see the fabulous marine wildlife and and so, the new Sealife Awareness Centre & Eco Shop is born! It's a space where we can display our collected data and also teach people in more detail about these wonderful creatures, hopefully raising more awareness for their protection and conservation of their habitat!

You can also try something different and view the dramatic & natural coastal landscape on a 2hr boat tour departing from Lagos up to Sagres - the most south westerly tip of Europe!
