Some new friends wanted to go sailing, so we suggested they get the train to Lagos and we would sail them back home to Ferragudo, about 2 hours sailing. We anchored and dinghyed them ashore, then decided it was so nice we would stay the night.
We are anchored under this castle that guarded the entrance to the Arade River. Portimao is on the other side of the harbour, but this is a lovely spot. If the weather is reasonable we will head to Culatra tomorrow.

Stealin' Time is back out cruising!
We are heading to Culatra, one of our favourite anchorages. Its 40 miles east of Lagos, so a 7-8hr sail.
We have 10 kts of wind from the SE, not what we were expecting, but ok. And flat seas.

Last August we had some bad fires in the hills to the north of us in the Algarve. For three weeks we had heavy smoke. Many people had to be evacuated.
I was walking up in one of the areas mostly affected yesterday, just outside Barão de São João. Lots of the trees showed new growth, so that's good to see. We are expecting another hot dry summer this year. Let's hope for no more fires!

Poor McDuff had a trip to the vets to get a lump removed from his chest. The vet sent it to the lab for analysis, but didn't think it was serious. He was a bit groggy yesterday, but perked up by bedtime.
He joins Pam in recovery. She is doing well with her PT.

We haven't been totally inactive recently.
We decided to remove our seized generator, upgrade to lithium batteries and add more solar panels. We were going to have the generator rebuilt, but we haven't used it in over a year and a half, and that was part of the issue. I am also servicing all ten of the winches and doing some varnishing.
But the big upgrade is Pam's partial left knee replacement. She's recovering well and hopes to be dancing around in a few weeks and ready to sail away again on a mini-Atlantic loop🤞
