In these special times in which we all, in the hospitality business, re-evaluate our businesses and put our thinking caps on so we may move forward stronger than ever, we’ve decided to go back to basics. We’ve created The Lost Weekender as a sister brand to The Hotel Plan in order to promote, inspire and trigger the interest in a special collection of places that we adore. Despite we still inspire many of our followers and partners to new discoveries we want to invest our time on our clients and help them thrive in these special times. We are putting all our efforts in our sales representation agency as we believe we are more needed in this landscape than ever. Saying this, we’ve moved all our communications to the account and we will be disabling this account temporarily in the future.

We’ve been quietly seeing and listening to all the expressions of pain, faith, anger and doubt over the last few days concerning the . Upon listening to the speech of Tolentino Mendonça on the celebration of the Day of Portugal, Camões and Portuguese Communities on June, 10th and brought again to light by the inspired .co_______ on a recent post, there was a part of us that really made a all new sense and, taking this to our public ethos, I would like to share a part of his speech:
“ ...Allow me to take a parable. The following story has been around for years concerning the anthropologist Margaret Mead. A student would have asked her what would be, for her, the first sign of civilization. The student expected her to say a clay pot, a grinding stone, or maybe a weapon. Margaret Mead thought for a moment, then she said “ a healed femur”. In the animal kingdom, a wounded being is automatically condemned to death, as he is fatally unprotected in the face of dangers and is no longer able to feed himself. A human femur that has been broken and healed shows the importance of a completely new moment: the moment a person is not left behind, alone. That someone cared for the injured person, guaranteed her safety until she recovered. The first sign of civilization is compassion, seen in a healed femur. It is in the community that our story begins. When we are able to pass from the I to the US and giving it an historical, spiritual and ethical sense, our purpose in history, education and religion is found.

Following our personal favorites, we couldn’t pass along without sharing . Not because it’s luxurious and tailored to a 5 star service and definitely not because of their out of this world beds 🤤 but, most of all because it’s genuine and the people who are taking care of this project are good, kind and genuine. And that’s hard to find, right? its a beautiful estate in Alentejo which pays honors to this magnificent part of Portugal. It’s unpretentious and authentic. And staff is simply out of this world. Definitely worth a once in a life time ( or many more!) visit

Being Friday, we’ve decided to keep our pace in the North of Portugal and present you with one of our favorite places in Porto city. Hotels, B&B’s and general tourism has grown so much in Porto over the last couple of years but remains a “must visit” anytime you’re near. Why? Because it only has seven suites, all beautiful designed and decorated with a simple aesthetic; because it’s not only about sleeping but a all new approach to food ( just check their insta to see 🤤) and, because it’s a sister and brother vision and passion in a time when Portugal was facing one of his greatest economical crisis ( 2010 ) and whilst they’ve endured and thrived in this mad landscape. If you’re anywhere nearby, don’t skip this visit and stay. You will for sure remember it further on.

So, this one is a family favorite for at least the last 5 years and what we call our very own peace of heaven, an haven of tranquility, nature and intrepidous discoveries. The Quinta dos Carqueijais is located in Valdosende at the entrance of the beautiful Gerês Mountain. With 6 Villas each one of them offering different views, features and services, the Quinta is a secluded place away from all the buzz and where Ines and Fabio are the soul and heart. The place also offers a direct access to the river where you can enjoy some swims or even some kayaking or boat rides. We invite you to discover a bit more of this pearl in the North of Portugal and share with us your future pics. Hope to meet you there! 🌳🌿
