I’m sharing a post from a friend who is collecting donations and essential goods to deliver directly to these families. Any help or share truly makes a difference. 🇵🇹❤️

💶 Tipping in Portugal: Do You Have To?

Here’s the truth: there are no strict rules. Tipping is not mandatory in Portugal.

Locals usually don’t leave big tips.

If you’d like a simple guideline, 10% is the most common amount when the service is good.

And of course, if you feel the person who helped you truly deserves it, you’re free to tip any amount you want.
It’s always about appreciation, not obligation 🇵🇹

This place feels calm, historic, and full of stories 📚
Walking inside is like slowing down for a moment, surrounded by books, quiet corners, and a lot of history.

It’s the oldest bookstore in the world still in operation and a lovely stop when exploring Lisbon. Even if you don’t buy a book, it’s absolutely worth stepping inside.

1️⃣ Restaurants close in the afternoon. Many places stop serving food between 3pm and 7pm.

Plan your meals so you don’t end up hungry.

2️⃣ Walking is harder than it looks

Lots of hills and stone sidewalks. Comfortable shoes are a must.

3️⃣ Not all places accept credit cards.

Many small cafés, bakeries, and local shops still prefer cash, especially outside tourist areas.

A restaurant couvert is a traditional offering in Portuguese dining, a selection of small appetizers like bread, olives, pâté, and cheese brought to your table at the start of a meal. It's not free, but you only pay if you eat it!
