Today marks the 60th anniversary of the 25 de Abril Bridge. Inaugurated on 6 August 1966 as the Salazar Bridge, it was renamed the 25 de Abril Bridge following the 1974 Revolution. Today, it stands as one of Portugal’s most significant engineering achievements and an enduring symbol of Lisbon and the nation.
🇵🇹 Hoje assinalam-se os 60 anos da Ponte 25 de Abril. Inaugurada a 6 de agosto de 1966 com o nome Ponte Salazar, passou a designar-se Ponte 25 de Abril após a Revolução de 1974 e tornou-se uma das mais importantes obras de engenharia em Portugal e um símbolo incontornável de Lisboa e do país.

Established in 1768 at the initiative of the Marquis of Pombal, the Ajuda Botanical Garden was Portugal’s first botanical garden, created to support the scientific education of the royal family. Designed by Domingos Vandelli, it brought together thousands of plant species from across the Portuguese Empire, becoming one of the country’s leading centers for botanical research during the 18th century.
🇵🇹 Inaugurado em 1768 por iniciativa do Marquês de Pombal, o Jardim Botânico da Ajuda foi o primeiro jardim botânico de Portugal, criado para apoiar o ensino científico da família real. Projetado por Domingos Vandelli, reuniu milhares de espécies vegetais trazidas de diferentes territórios do Império Português, tornando-se um dos mais importantes centros de estudo da botânica no século XVIII.
