Hoje acompanhámos um grupo internacional numa viagem que ligou dois lugares cheios de significado: o imponente Palácio Nacional de Mafra e a pitoresca vila da Ericeira.

Foi precisamente este o caminho percorrido, a 5 de Outubro de 1910, por D. Manuel II, o último rei de Portugal, que, após a implantação da República, deixou Mafra e embarcou aqui para o exílio — encerrando séculos de monarquia no nosso país.

Momentos assim mostram como cada rota em Portugal é mais do que um percurso… é uma história viva.

Today we guided an international group on a journey connecting two places full of meaning: the impressive National Palace of Mafra and the charming village of Ericeira.

This was the exact route taken on October 5th, 1910, by King Manuel II, the last king of Portugal, who, after the proclamation of the Republic, left Mafra and boarded here into exile — closing centuries of monarchy in our country.

Moments like this show that every route in Portugal is more than just a journey… it’s living history.

Hello to all visitors to Portugal. From now until August 7th, it seems like a catastrophe has struck Portugal. Sintra is partially closed to visitors due to weather conditions. And it seems like Sintra is the only place in Portugal that can be visited, but it isn't. Don't worry, because there are countless reasons to get to know my country.
Relax, enjoy a good day at the beach (I recommend using sunscreen), and take advantage of the evening to visit typical neighborhoods, thanks to the cool atmosphere of the region you're in. I particularly recommend a good night of fado...
But what is Fado?
Fado is a Portuguese musical style, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site since 2011. Its origins are not well known, but it is known that it developed in Lisbon in the late 19th century. It mostly tells stories of sadness and love, with the ultimate theme being the hope for a better future. Essentially, it portrays a specific period in Portugal, its fears and weaknesses, and the hope for better days...
One of the greatest fado singers was Amalia Rodrigues. Born in 1920, she was the most brilliant actress, singer, and fado singer of the 20th century. Amalia Rodrigues died at the age of 79, and her tomb is in the National Pantheon in Lisbon.
I leave here a "taste" of an extraordinarily popular fado from Lisbon, which portrays the city in its "self," in its daily life, in its genesis. I hope it captivates you and that at the first opportunity you decide to dine in Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, or the Algarve at one of the typical and traditional fado houses. Hello. When looking for a tour operator in Portugal, make sure they have the necessary and up-to-date credentials to provide the services. The RNAAT or RNAVT license, overseen by the Portuguese Tourism Institute, will be your barometer of trust. Everything else is mere assumption. The Portuguese Tourism Institute informs you which companies are legal and qualified to provide the services you require. There are differences between companies with RNAAT and RNAVT regarding the services they can provide. Before giving the "yes" to anyone providing your service, verify their suitability. How do you do this? Ask your operator for the RNAAT or RNAVT number. It should appear like this...as shown in the photos.

If you have hired a company that is not properly legalized and has up-to-date insurance, you should act conscientiously, knowing that if problems arise you will not receive the necessary assistance.

And what a wonderful day they chose!

On the banks of the Zêzere River, Zaboeira is a haven of tradition and history. Its stone houses, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, tell stories of past generations and hold secrets from a time long gone. Along the riverbank, the river beaches invite relaxation and contemplation. Time seems to stand still here, where the houses still retain the charm and authenticity of a bygone era. A place to lose yourself in the narrow streets, discover the soul of the village, and enjoy the serenity of the river.

"At the beginning of this month, I had a very special visit, so I took a week off. Unlike previous times, we decided to stay in the Lisbon region. We've already traveled a lot of the country, and it's always hard to choose where to go. So, we started with Peniche and Baleal. Personally, I love Cabo Carvoeiro, and nature paints a picture worthy of Van Gogh here. On the second day, since it was Tuesday, we decided on Alfama and, of course, the Feira da Ladra... it was a spectacular day, only missing the smell of grilled sardines, which will come soon. The end of the day was beautiful in Azoia, with a magnificent sunset in Azenhas do Mar. On the third day, what can I say? Cabo Espichel (I should mention I love "Capes"), Sesimbra, and Arrábida. But who would imagine this when looking at the "mountain" from Lisbon? On the last day... home. Cascais and Ericeira are my home. An excellent meal at Paladar da Guia and a sunset at Foz do Lizandro. Because life is worth living and traveling... thank you for reading."

Selle kuu alguses oli mul väga eriline visiit, nii et kasutasin võimalust ja võtsin nädalase puhkuse. Erinevalt teistest aegadest otsustasime jääda Lissaboni piirkonda. Oleme juba suures osas riigist käinud ja alati on raske valida, kuhu minna. Otsustasime siis alustada Peniche ja Balealiga. Isiklikult armastan Cabo Carvoeirot ja siinne loodus maalib Van Goghi väärilise pildi.
Teisel päeval, kuna oli teisipäev, otsustasime minna Alfamasse ja ilmselgelt Feira da Ladrasse... päev oli suurejooneline, puudu oli vaid grillitud sardiinide lõhn, mis peagi müügile tulevad. Päeva lõpp ilutses Azoias ja suurepärane päikeseloojang Azenhas do Maris.
Mida öelda kolmandal päeval?
Cabo Espichel (pean mainima, et ma armastan "Cabost"), Sesimbra ja Arrábida. Aga kes seda ette kujutab, vaadates Lissaboni-poolset "mäge"?
Viimasel päeval... kodus. Cascais ja Ericeira on minu kodu. Suurepärane eine ja päikeseloojang Foz do Lizandros.
Sest elu on elamist ja reisimist väärt... aitäh lugemise eest.
