Huge shoutout to Dirk for trading the hotel gym for the steep, cobblestoned “stairmaster” that is Porto’s historic center! He was warming up to the X match

Our guide Paulo led the way, proving that the best way to see the Ribeira is at a 5:00 pace—even if the views make you want to stop and stare. Thanks for running with us, Dirk! You handled those hills like a local.

We’re hitting the streets of Porto with the ultimate (and slightly dysfunctional) Olympian squad to see if you have what it takes to keep up with the gods. 🏛️🏃‍♂️
The “duties” are split exactly how you’d expect: Mercury is our aggressive pace-setter who thinks everyone has winged sandals, while Bacchus views every wine cellar as a mandatory “hydration station.” Luckily, Methis is on hand to provide the wisdom—or the cunning—needed to trick your legs into conquering Porto’s hills without a lightning-bolt-sized tantrum.
It’s 7km of hidden myths, stunning facades, and legendary lore. Book the Bacchus and Friends tour at the link below to decide which deity you’ll be blaming for your post-run soreness. Just try not to let Mercury see you checking your watch!

Forget about the barcode and those park loops. In Porto, your run comes with views of the douro river and crossings over the Luís I bridge, all at your own pace, on Saturday or whichever day you prefer. Parkrun hasn't made its debut yet, but we have something even better!😜😉

We pick you up at your hotel so you don't have to wander the city in short-shorts looking lost. We stop for photos, share the city's history, and at the end, we’ll even take you to the best coffee spot (because nobody deserves a tourist trap). It’s like running with a local friend who knows all the shortcuts.

Pena Ventosa (the ‘windy hill’): this small area of Porto’s historic center preserves some of the city’s earliest history. Archaeological evidence shows occupation prior to the Roman period, by communities drawn to its strategic position above the Douro River.

The Romans later established a settlement called Portus Cale or Portucale, which functioned as a river port and administrative centre. Over time, this name evolved and eventually gave rise to the name of our country, Portugal.

During the Middle Ages, Catholicism strongly influenced urban life, with the Bishop of Porto exercising significant political and social authority. Religious buildings, including the Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto) and other churches, became defining elements of the area.

Today’s urban fabric reflects this long history through narrow, winding streets, irregular plots, dense construction, and stone buildings layered over centuries, some parts only accessible by foot🏃🏃‍♂️

✨ Largo da Pena Ventosa is a small square and one of the most colorful, authentic secrets in the city.

With , you’re not just a tourist—you’re an urban explorer. Come discover the corners that aren’t that visible on the maps.

Porto isn’t just a beautiful postcard, but a vibrant, moving city!

Since 2015, we’ve been bringing Porto to life with our stories.

Every week, we take runners from all over the world—from Canada to Chile, from China to California—and we turn Porto’s cobblestones into a running track, exploring every hidden azulejo and viewpoint. We show you the history, we tell you the stories, and together, we make Porto move.

Unlike Mercury and Flora, roman gods perched above the Bolhão Market, watching over Porto for ages, we never sit still.

Give your running shoes a city break! Come run with us:

Starting the weekend just right — with runners’ photos!

Sue and Gareth, visiting from London, kicked off their stay with a running tour in Porto led by our guide Paulo. Together, they discovered the city’s charm at sunrise — quiet streets, its amazing light, and breathtaking views along the river.

Because there’s no better way to see Porto than doing what we love most: running! 💙
