🇬🇧The Serra de Monchique Rede Natura 2000 represents one of the most interesting and diversified places in southern Portugal, both in terms of biodiversity and weather conditions, resulting in a big variety of microclimates, optimising the development of several species (some of those endemic) of fauna and flora. Hotspot in Portugal and Europe, Monchique is also classified as an IBA (Important Bird Area) by the international federation Birdlife, which SPEA (Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo de Aves- Portuguese Society for the Studie of Birds) belongs to.
Definitely, an oasis to explore and discover.

🇵🇹 O Sitio Rede Natura 2000 da Serra de Monchique apresenta um dos mais interessantes e diversos locais no sul de Portugal, tanto a nível de biodiversidade como a nível climatérico, resultando num conjunto de microclimas muito variado, propício para o desenvolvimento de várias espécies (algumas endémicas) de fauna e flora. Hotspot de biodiversidade de Portugal e da Europa, esta Serra é também classificada como IBA (Important Bird Area) pela federação internacional Birdlife, da qual faz parte a SPEA (Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo das Aves).
É, definitivamente, um oásis de vida a explorar e descobrir.

🇬🇧 This tour was designed by Paulo who, besides wanting to see red-necked nightjar, is a nature lover.
We were surprised by several nocturnal birds of prey, some mammals and reptiles. The flyer in the first photo also showed up.
Does anyone have any idea of what it is?

🇵🇹 Este passeio foi desenhado pelo Paulo que, para além de querer muito ver noitibós de nuca vermelha, é um amante de Natureza.
Fomos surpreendidos por várias aves de rapina noturnas, por alguns mamíferos e répteis. O insecto da primeira foto também deu o ar da sua graça.

🇵🇹O camaleão (Chamaeleo chamaeleon) é uma das espécies mais ameaçadas na região do Algarve. A perda e fragmentação dos seus habitats são as principais razões para a diminuição das populações. Assim, estes animais ficam restritos às zonas que habitam e, assim, não conseguem dispersar-se. Junte-se à PNE nesta experiência de natureza e venha descobrir este réptil incrível. 🇬🇧 The mediterranean chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon) is one of the most threatened species in the region of Algarve. The lost and fragmentation of their habitats are the main reasons for the wane of their population. Thus,

🇵🇹 Ontem escutámos e avistámos noitibós de nuca vermelha (Caprimulgus ruficollis) mas também tivemos a agradável supresa desta adorável fuinha (Martes foina).

🇬🇧Yesterday we hear and saw red-necked nightjar (Caprimulgus ruficollis) but we also had the nice suprise of this lovely beech marten (Martes foina).

🇬🇧 The Cabo de São Vicente (Sagres) is the most southwestern point in Europe and an excellent place for studies and controls of marine mammal populations, something that has been done in recent years resulting in the observation of innumerable and unexpected species.
The Cabo de Santa Maria (Olhão) is a point with conditions to follow the example of Sagres, being the most southern point of Continental Portugal.
Embark with PNE and observe the diversity of marine mammals that can be found on the south coast of Portugal.

🇵🇹 O Cabo de São Vincente (Sagres) é o ponto mais a sudoeste da Europa e um excelente local para realização de estudos e controlos de populações de mamíferos marinhos, algo que tem vindo a ser realizado nos últimos anos com observações de inúmeras e inesperadas espécies.
