We're looking for an Equestrian Guide — Madeira

We're looking for an experienced equestrian guide to join our team at an equestrian centre on the beautiful island of Madeira.

What we're looking for:

🐴 Proven experience in horse riding and handling
🐴 Confidence accompanying riders of different experience levels, including beginners
🐴 A responsible approach to horse care and welfare
🐴 Good communication skills and confidence interacting with guests from around the world
🐴 Flexibility to work different schedules, including weekends

We'd particularly value:

• Equestrian qualifications or relevant training
• A good level of English — other languages are a bonus
• Previous experience guiding horse riding tours or working in equestrian tourism

What we offer:

Recovery mode: ON. 😴🤎

After their now rather famous escape, we thought the girls had got it all out of their system...

We were wrong. 😂

Over the following two nights, they managed three more escape attempts. Poppy was clearly the mastermind behind the first two, convincing everyone to break through the electric fence one night and hop over a small fence the next. On the third night, Pimenta and Randell decided to go on an adventure of their own and even managed to break a fence on the way out.

The last couple of days have been spent repairing fences, making a few improvements and trying to stay one step ahead of our little escape artists.

For now, they're making the most of a well-earned rest... probably recovering from all those nocturnal adventures.

Fingers crossed they've finally decided that sleeping at night isn't such a bad idea after all! 😂🐴🤎

We'd decided to give the girls a couple of days off after their first two rides...
They had other plans. 😂

This morning, we realised Poppy, Randell and Pimenta were missing. The fence had been broken, and our three newest arrivals had set off on an adventure together.

At first, we searched all around the stables, convinced they couldn't have gone very far. After all, they don't know the area yet...

Then came the phone call.

"Your horses are about 4.5 kilometres away."

Sure enough, there they were, happily grazing together as if nothing had happened. 🌿🐴

So, with an improvised headcollar for Pimenta and the other two following behind, we set off on the journey back home.

Thankfully, they were all safe, completely unfazed by the whole experience... and probably wondering why we'd interrupted their little picnic. 🤎

Equine Village is looking for a motivated, responsible person who enjoys working outdoors to join our team.

Main duties:
🐴 Daily care and handling of horses, dogs and other animals;
🌱 Cleaning and maintenance of the facilities and outdoor areas;
🚜 Assisting with the daily tasks around the farm;
💪 Hands-on outdoor work.

We're looking for someone who:
✔ Is reliable and responsible;
✔ Loves animals and nature;
✔ Is eager to learn and enjoys working as part of a team;
✔ Is happy working outdoors in different weather conditions.

Previous experience with horses or other animals is an advantage, but not essential.

Yesterday, we welcomed three new members to our herd. 🤎🐴

Meet Poppy, our cheeky little pony, and Pimenta and Randell, two beautiful Lusitano mares.

They've just completed a four-day journey by ship to Madeira. Although they were very well looked after throughout the trip, travelling can be a stressful experience, so they're now taking some well-deserved time to rest, settle into their new surroundings and get to know their new herd.

Poppy, however, seems convinced she's lived here her whole life! She's already explored every corner of the stables, introduced herself to everyone and made herself completely at home. 😄

Pimenta and Randell are taking things at their own pace, getting to know the herd and settling into their new routine. So far, everything is going wonderfully, and before long they'll all be one big family.

All three are not only beautiful, but incredibly sweet, and we couldn't be happier to welcome them to Equine Village.

We can't wait to watch them settle in, build new friendships and, before long, share many adventures with them... and with you. 🤎
