📢 Urgent Notice – Current Situation in Azenhas do Mar and Cabo da Roca

FEEL PORTUGUESE TOURS is issuing this urgent warning to all visitors regarding the serious decline in safety and public order in the areas of Azenhas do Mar and Cabo da Roca, two of Portugal’s most iconic natural landmarks.

Despite constant signs, local advice and clear warnings, a worrying number of tourists continue to park irresponsibly and illegally, especially near the main entrance of Azenhas do Mar. This narrow and delicate area is not suitable for parking, and the reckless, repeated behavior of many visitors has created traffic chaos, endangered pedestrians, and disrespected both the local community and environment.

What’s most concerning is that only 1 in every 10 tourists respects the signage and local guidance. The others frequently respond with hostility, verbal aggression, and a complete disregard for basic civic rules. This is unacceptable and has become a daily and exhausting reality for those who live and work here.

On top of this, we now face a sharp rise in criminal activity. Organized groups of pickpockets and thieves previously operating in Lisbon are now moving into these areas, targeting tourists:
• Smashing car windows to steal items left inside;
• Operating in groups, disguised as tourists, making them harder to detect;
• Creating a growing sense of insecurity in once peaceful locations.

⚠️ What You Must Know and Do:
• DO NOT PARK in narrow or unauthorized zones — your actions have real impact.
• NEVER leave valuables in your car, even for a few minutes.
• Follow local guidance and respect the community.
• Report suspicious activity immediately by calling 112.

Authorities, including the GNR, are increasing their presence, but this situation requires awareness, cooperation and respect from every visitor.

These are treasured locations that deserve to be preserved — not just visited.
Tourism must be responsible, safe and respectful.

Thank you to those who care.
To those who don’t: be aware that fines, towing, and legal consequences are already being enforced.
