What started as one bespoke trip became a relationship we genuinely look forward to every year. Some of the oldest art in Europe is carved into rock along this valley — and getting there is part of the story.

The Côa Valley combines two things we love building tours around: quiet, winding roads through granite hills following the river, and access to something genuinely rare — open-air rock art thousands of years old, protected inside the Côa Valley Archaeological Park. Seeing the engravings themselves means booking ahead and going in on the park’s own 4x4, guided by their team — not something you ride up to on your own bike. But the roads leading through the valley, the landscape around it, and the park’s own lookout are very much part of what we’re building here. We’re still shaping this route. More details soon.

Right now, in the Douro, the harvest is happening. This is the best time to be there.

Early September in the Douro means one thing: grapes coming off the vine, terraced hillsides turning color, and a smell in the air that only happens this time of year. It’s one of the most beautiful weeks to ride this valley — narrow roads carved into the hillside, quintas working at full pace, and views that don’t need any filter. We’ve been scouting this route for a while, and vindima season is exactly when we want to bring riders here: not just to see the Douro, but to feel it working. More details on this tour coming soon.

The year is carved in stone. The house is coming back to life.

Above the door, carved into the granite, the year is still there: 1869. This house has stood through more than a century and a half, and this autumn, it opens again — not as a ruin, not as a memory, but as Casa1869 Biker Guest House. Between Serra da Estrela, Serra do Açor and Serra do Caramulo, what was once left to time is being rebuilt stone by stone, keeping what should stay: the granite walls, a single tile someone chose not to remove, the quiet. A garage for motorcycles, a garden with a pool, and total privacy — five minutes from the IC6, one from the N17. Not finished yet. But close.

While the rest of Europe puts the bike away, the Algarve Winter Tour is officially open.

This is the tour we’ve been building quietly since summer — and it’s ready. From October to March, while most of the continent waits out the cold, the Algarve stays exactly as a rider wants it: dry roads, mild afternoons, empty curves. Based at Villa Foia, in the hills above Monchique, the tour runs from the Serra down to the coast — the kind of route that only works when it’s built around one rider, or one small group, at a time.

Thank you for staying with us through every crossing, every stop, every bridge with a story worth telling. Every September, before the first guest arrives, there’s a week that belongs only to the roads.

Right now, while most of you are still thinking about summer, I’m already somewhere else — checking which mountain roads survived the season, which ones need a second look before I bring anyone there, which stretch of gravel got worse after the rain in June. This is the part of the job nobody sees: the scouting, the small notes on my phone, the routes I quietly reject because they’re not good enough yet. Autumn is when everything comes together — Douro, Côa, the Algarve base, a few surprises still taking shape. I’ve been riding these roads for over 25 years, and I still find things I didn’t know were there. That’s the part I never get tired of.
