🇬🇧| What an incredible summer it has been here in São Miguel! 🌊🐋 Our high season for whale and dolphin watching is coming to an end, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all the magical encounters we’ve had.
The Azores are home to several resident species that can be spotted year-round, such as the majestic s***m whale, playful bottlenose dolphin, energetic common dolphin and the unique Risso’s dolphin.
During the warmer months, we were also lucky to welcome the beautiful bryde whales, sei whales and spotted dolphins, which visit us in summer when the waters are richer in food and perfect for caring for their calves. As the season changes and the waters get colder, they’ll soon return to warmer regions.
This summer has been truly unforgettable, filled with special moments and breathtaking sightings. 💙🐬
🇵🇹| Tivemos um verão inesquecível aqui em São Miguel! 🌊🐋
A nossa época alta para observação de baleias e golfinhos está a chegar ao fim, e não poderíamos estar mais gratos por todos os encontros mágicos que tivemos!
Os Açores são o lar de várias espécies residentes que podem ser avistadas durante todo o ano, como o majestoso cachalote, o brincalhão golfinho-roaz, o enérgico golfinho-comum e o único golfinho-de-risso, as nossas baleias-de-bryde e os cachalotes!
Durante os meses mais quentes, também tivemos a sorte de receber os belos golfinhos-pintados, que nos visitam no verão, quando as águas são mais ricas em alimentos e perfeitas para cuidar das suas crias. À medida que a estação muda e as águas ficam mais frias, eles logo retornam a regiões mais quentes.
Este verão foi de cortar a respiração, repleto de momentos especiais e avistamentos de tirar o fôlego. 💙🐬
