UPDATE: She's arrived and is already starting to open up and show her loving personality. Her spirit is not broken! She can feel the possibility of a new start and her playfulness and curiosity are already coming. To see this much kindness and sweetness come from a life chained to the ground with seemingly no hope is quite incredible. She does have hope and it shows. She is so full of love! We are ready to show HER all the love that humans are capable of. 🌼

URGENT! We just got a call from the authorities about a serious situation involving a severely neglected 20-year-old donkey with terrible chain marks to the neck, ear bitten off by a previous dog attack, spinal issues, possible hernia, skin infections and horrible flies. She was chained in an open field, exposed to the elements. If you want to support this precious life with medical attention, please join us in this rescue! Kiwi is our cheeky little fella. Just when we mean to give him a stern talking-to, he gets us laughing and giving him snuggles. Luis and Kiwi like to annoy each other, but we know deep down it’s all love ❤️

Meet Esperanza, Gabriella, and João King. Esperanza and Gabby came to us first - Esperanza pregnant with João King. This trio was our first introduction to caring for donkeys and were the inspiration to create a donkey sanctuary. Esperanza is the mamma of the herd, while Gabby sneaks in with a more auntie role for the crew. João King is the resident youngster of our bunch and has a little mischievous streak to amuse us all!

Meet Eduard (officially Eduardo). This fella came to us after we witnessed him being beat with a stick at a local market. We decide right then that he was coming home with us. He loves scratches and attention, especially when he can lay his big, heavy head in your arms or on your shoulder for a snuggle. Most of all, this sweet guy LOVES to sing 🎤 🎶
