In the heart of a dense urban landscape, this ongoing study explores how nature can return to the city. The leaf inspired balconies introduce movement and lightness.

This early design focuses on a key challenge: reducing visual noise on the façade (from air conditioning units to exposed cables) while preserving the building’s historic character. The drawing presented here reflects that exploration, showing how nature driven elements can be integrated without altering the essence of the original architecture.

The project begins by revisiting the history of Portuguese breweries and the Industrial Revolution that shaped their identity. Understanding their principles became the foundation for translating legacy into spatial language.

From this reflection emerged a clear emotional intention: nostalgia through materiality, enthusiasm expressed in light, boldness revealed in colour, and nature restoring balance. Perforated metal establishes rhythm and filtered reflection. Brass lighting suspends a sense of effervescence. Circular geometries introduce movement within structure. Leather and dark wood anchor warmth, while vegetation reintroduces balance and softness. The atmosphere is conceived to feel vibrant, tactile, luminous, and convivial, a contemporary expression rooted in memory.

The intervention begins with the reading of a building compressed by the urban frontage, where an existing identity coexists with the need for transformation. Conceived as a study, the project investigates how architecture can support decision-making by prioritising human experience, the purpose of the place, and its environmental context.

The architectural response is structured around the idea of controlled duality. The original volume remains legible while a contemporary layer is introduced, clearly distinguished yet carefully inserted. Decisions of volume, circulation, and interior–exterior relationships are guided by the intention to evoke spaces that feel memorable, regenerative, and alive, balancing memory and renewal through controlled architectural gestures.

Greenery, proportion, and enclosure work together to shape an atmosphere of calm and balance, transforming circulation into experience and voids into places of stay.

This rehabilitation project reinterprets an existing building for accommodation, introducing a central courtyard as a shared space for rest and encounter. Vegetation, controlled light, and simple materials define a quiet interior landscape, enhancing comfort while preserving the character of the original structure.

This single family house was conceived through principles of contrast, integration, delicacy, and contemplation. Natural materials, controlled openings, and a fluid relationship between interior and exterior shape an environment rooted in its context, designed for everyday living, quiet moments, and a continuous dialogue with the landscape.

Architecture begins with what a place is meant to feel like.

Through sketch studies, we explored movement, light, and presence, understanding the hotel hall not just as a passage, but as the first emotional contact between the guest and the place.

The design studies focused on rethinking circulation, spatial hierarchy, and perception within a hotel context. By testing flow, scale, and atmosphere on paper, the hall becomes a carefully calibrated space of arrival, where architectural decisions translate emotion into experience.

A home begins with what people are meant to feel in each space. Perception, atmosphere, and scale shape how the house is experienced, guiding moments of arrival, pause, and connection throughout the interior and exterior.

Here, emotion is not an afterthought, but a design driver. Architecture is composed to support different states of being, allowing openness and privacy to coexist with clarity and restraint.

In this family house, façade articulation, material transitions, and calibrated openings define the relationship between inside and outside. Volumetric composition, entrance sequence, and outdoor spaces establish a coherent architectural structure, balancing identity, comfort, and performance.

In this bedroom, material coherence, controlled daylight, and clear proportions shape an environment dedicated to rest. Built-in elements, circulation, and furniture are carefully integrated to support daily routines with clarity, comfort, and spatial precision.
