🇬🇧 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 - 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘆𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 🥾

DiscoveRomania recently had the pleasure of organizing a trekking journey in Transylvania, where participants from Italy explored the stunning landscapes of the 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗴𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀, discovered traditional villages, and experienced the cultural landmarks around 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗼𝘃 and 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻.

The group was accompanied by the tour leader Fabrizio Teodori from 𝗩𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶 𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶 - a cooperative travel network and one of Italy’s pioneers in responsible, solidarity-based, and sustainable tourism. Their philosophy resonates deeply with 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: designing travel that creates connections, supports local communities, and generates a positive impact far beyond sightseeing 🌱

A 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 of the program was the guidance of 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘂 - 𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮, organizer of major trail running competitions, initiator of the Carpathian Circuit, and passionate advocate for the Carpathians and active tourism. His knowledge and dedication added extraordinary value to the experience.

✨ As every journey with DiscoveRomania, we ended the tour with a meeting in person - a moment to reflect together on responsible tourism practices and how travel can create lasting impact.

🇷🇴 𝗗𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 - 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮 🥾

DiscoveRomania a avut recent placerea de a organiza un tur de trekking in Transilvania, unde participanti din Italia au descoperit peisajele spectaculoase ale muntilor 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗴𝗶 𝘀𝗶 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗶, au explorat sate traditionale si au vizitat obiective culturale din zona Brasov si 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻 - 𝗠𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘂.

Grupul a fost insotit de tour leader-ul Fabrizio Teodori din partea 𝗩𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶 𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶 – unul dintre pionierii turismului responsabil si sustenabil din Italia. Filosofia lor rezoneaza perfect cu 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮: sa cream calatorii care aduc conexiuni autentice, sustin comunitatile locale si genereaza impact pozitiv, dincolo de simpla vizitare a obiectivelor.

Un moment deosebit al programului a fost ghidajul oferit de 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘂 – 𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗶 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮, organizator al unor mari competitii de trail running, initiator al Circuitului Carpati si sustinator pasionat al Carpatilor si al turismului activ. Experienta si implicarea lui au adus valoare exceptionala experientei.

✨ Ca la fiecare calatorie marca DiscoveRomania, am incheiat turul cu o intalnire personala – un prilej de a reflecta impreuna la practicile de turism responsabil si la modul in care calatoriile pot crea un impact de durata.

DiscoveRomania recently had the privilege of meeting 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 in the medieval town of Sighișoara - a man whose life and work are deeply connected with the preservation of Romania’s traditions and historical treasures.

Why he inspires us:
✅️ he plays an active role in Ambulanța pentru Monumente, the award-winning heritage rescue initiative honoured with the Europa Nostra 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. Supported in part by donations from 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐈𝐈’𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, the project saves endangered historical monuments across Romania, working hand-in-hand with local craftsmen, students, and volunteers.
✅️ he is the author of the book 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐲: 𝐀 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 - a captivating story of rural life in Transylvania and Maramureș, painting an authentic portrait of traditional communities, centuries-old customs, and the unspoiled landscapes that draw travellers seeking a deeper meaning.

This is a reminder of how someone’s dedication can protect a nation’s heritage and inspire sustainable travel which has a positive impact over the natural and cultural environment.

De ce ne inspiră:
✅️ este implicat activ in 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲, o initiativa premiata pentru salvarea patrimoniului, distinsa cu 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮 𝗡𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 la categoria Educatie, Formare si Constientizare. Sprijinit in mare parte de donatii din partea 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗶 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗹𝘂𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗜𝗜, proiectul salveaza monumente istorice aflate in pericol in toata Romania, lucrand alaturi de mesteri locali, studenti si voluntari.
✅️ este autorul cartii 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐲: 𝐀 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 — o poveste captivanta despre viata rurala din Transilvania si Maramures, care reda cu autenticitate comunitatile traditionale, obiceiurile stravechi si peisajele neatinse care atrag calatori in cautare de o conexiune reala.

Aceasta intalnire ne aminteste cat de mult inseamna dedicarea unei singure persoane pentru a proteja patrimoniul unei tari si pentru a inspira un turism responsabil, care are un impact pozitiv asupra mediului natural si cultural.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Irish Georgian Society for their journey through Romania — a six-day tour exploring the country’s architectural and cultural heritage. ✨

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐚: 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 🌲

Recently, our colleague Laura joined a beautiful group of brave women from Zarnesti led by Andreea Dan - owner of 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 - for a journey through 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐚, following one of the most scenic and meaningful segments of Via Transilvanica.

This northern region of Romania is known for its unique blend of 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐲. 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔: 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒂 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒛𝒂 𝑻𝒆𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂, 𝒁𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊–𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏🥾

🌍 Following 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜’s inclusion of 𝗩𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮 among the “𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝” destinations for 2025, we’re excited to share that we are now in the process of featuring parts of this remarkable route in our itineraries — to add even more depth and value to your travel experience in Romania.

📢𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐳𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚, the first official extension of Via Transilvanica, was inaugurated recently. This new segment connects Viscri and Bran through a scenic and culturally rich stretch of trail. Its name honors the region’s Teutonic heritage, with routes winding through forest paths, hills, and stunning views of the Piatra Craiului Mountains.

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 was there to mark this milestone, represented by our colleague Simona, a local of Zărnești. It was a great opportunity to walk this trail, meet fellow travellers, and connect with tourism professionals at regional and national level during the afternoon ceremony. 🤝

We also had the chance to exchange ideas and stories with ambassadors and supporters of the trail, such as Dana Rogoz and Tibi Useriu, and to enjoy the presence of Charlie Ottley, Prince Nicolae, and local authorities who officially welcomed the project to the region.

Experiencing this route firsthand helps us better design and promote meaningful travel in Romania — especially where nature and history merge in authentic ways.
