Breb Village

🇬🇧 The haystack season has begun in the village of Breb. It’s the most sustainable way to preserve hay for animals during the winter. It doesn’t involve complicated machinery or fossil fuels. However, it is very hard work, since it takes place under the scorching summer sun. Ionu’, son of Găvrilă, and Ileana are building a haystack. Usually, the woman is the one who remains atop the stack to compact the hay, but Ion has taken her place, because Ileana suffers from a fear of heights.

🇪🇦 Ha comenzado la temporada de pajares en el pueblo de Breb. La forma más sostenible de conservar el heno para los animales durante el invierno. No implica maquinaria complicada ni combustibles fósiles. Sin embargo, es un trabajo muy duro, ya que se realiza bajo el sol abrasador del verano. Ionu’, hijo de Găvrilă, y Ileana están construyendo un pajar. Normalmente, la mujer es quien se queda sobre el pajar para compactar el heno, pero Ion ha ocupado su lugar, ya que Ileana sufre de miedo a las alturas.

🇬🇧 Maria lui Gorlan is working diligently in her garden while we were strolling through Breb. We stopped to chat, and she shared how happy she is that her efforts have borne fruit and how truly blessed she feels by God’s goodness.

🇬🇧 Ileana Bozai, a resident of , carefully crafts a traditional cloth used to cover the Easter offerings that will be brought to church for consecration on Easter Sunday. These offerings are later shared during a festive lunch with family and guests.
In accordance with Orthodox Christian tradition, no one partakes in food on Easter Sunday before attending the religious service - not even guests. The 40-day period of Great Lent officially ends following the midnight Resurrection service, and it is only after the Sunday morning liturgy that families come together to enjoy a celebratory meal.

🇪🇦 Ileana Bozai, residente del pueblo de Breb, confecciona con esmero un paño tradicional utilizado para cubrir los alimentos que serán llevados a la iglesia el Domingo de Pascua para su consagración. Estos alimentos se compartirán más tarde durante un almuerzo festivo con la familia y los invitados.
Según la tradición cristiana ortodoxa, nadie debe comer el Domingo de Pascua antes de asistir al servicio religioso, ni siquiera los invitados. La Cuaresma, que dura 40 días, concluye oficialmente tras el oficio de Resurrección a medianoche. Sólo después de la liturgia del Domingo por la mañana, las familias se reúnen para disfrutar de una comida de celebración.

Sâmuca is a resident of the village of Breb who returns home after a long day of work in the fields. The rake and pitchfork he uses are made of wood. He also brings back some dry hay for his cows.

🇬🇧 Gheorghe a lui Ciobilă is the oldest inhabitant of the village of Breb. Born in 1926, Ciobilă worked alongside his parents since he was 10 years old. He is very well known for his wood crafts, especially the making of pitchforks and rakes. For more than 70 years Ciobilă has been the supplier of the up mentioned tools to the locals.
Many who have crossed his threshold have learned what a simple and modest life trully means. He is 97 years old.

🇪🇸 Gheorghe a lui Ciobilă es el habitante más antiguo del pueblo de Breb. Nacido en 1926, Ciobilă trabajó junto a sus padres desde que tenía 10 años. Es muy conocido por su artesanía en madera, especialmente en la fabricación de horcas y rastrillos. Durante más de 70 años, Ciobilă ha sido el proveedor de las herramientas mencionadas para los lugareños. Muchos de los que han cruzado su umbral han aprendido lo que realmente significa una vida sencilla y modesta. El tiene 97 años.
