Transfagarasan (7C), Transalpina (67C) , some of the best roads for bikers, crossing the Carpathians, are in Romania. Traveling from one road to another, on bikes, is pure freedom and great pleasure. Especially when you ride along your son, as I did. 5 days, 1300KM, great weather, great views, great food, great company. Come and see it for yourself.

Known also as Corvin Castle, it is located in the city of Hunedoara. The visit at the castle could be a real pleasure if the staff would be trained for offering guidance and information without looking like they are bothered by the presence of the visitors. The Hunyad Castle should be included in the tour of anyone visiting the area but we don't think that it is a point of attraction that should be a destination by itself.

1.5 KM on the road from Cheia to Brasov, turn to the right and go all the way up to Cabana Ciucas ( to get up there by car you need a good 4X4). By foot it will take up to two hours of walk. After reaching the Cabana Ciucas just follow the red line sign which will take you to the path to Ciucas pick. The trip is fantastic and you dont need to be in great physical shape but it is not for people with heart condition or physical limitations.

VISCRI is the small and relatively isolated village where Prince Charles owns properties. Fortunately the village is protected by UNESCO. Unfortunately the place is polluted by cars allowed to enter the village without any limitation. We would expect that such a place would be visited by foot and not by fuming and noisy vehicles.

WARNING - if you visit SIGHISOARA do not stay at CASA BAROCA, room 1. The room is small, under a staircase, with no AC, with no air flow, with bad canalization in the bathroom. It is disgraceful and revolting that such a room is offered for rent.
ALSO: night before leaving we asked to be taken, by car, with our baggage, from Casa Baroca to the parking lot out of the old city. The reason was the fact that private cars are not allowed to park in the old city. Night before we were told that someone will come early in the morning to pick us up. Nobody arrived so we walked all the way to the parking lor! Be aware.
