The fortified church of Viscri in Autumn

The fortified church of Viscri (Deutsch-Weißkirch in German, Weisskirich in Transylvanian Saxon and Szászfehéregyháza in Hungarian) in autumn.
The village of Viscri is located in Brașov County, in Transylvania, northwest of Rupea (Reps) and southeast of Sighișoara (Schäßburg).

Viscri is characterised by its historic village layout, traditional Saxon farmsteads and medieval fortified church, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Autumn in Pestera, Brasov County

The small mountain village of Peștera lies at an altitude of around 1,050 metres in the Rucăr-Bran corridor in Transylvania. The scattered houses and farmsteads are spread across the slopes and meadows.

The views of the Piatra Craiului Mountains to the west and the Bucegi Mountains to the east are particularly impressive. While the colourful autumn forests glow in the valley, the first snow often falls in the higher mountain areas at this time of year.

The surrounding area is a popular destination for hiking and nature walks.

Autumn in the village of Sirnea 🍂

Sirnea, known as Schirnen in German, is located at an altitude of around 1,244 metres in Brașov County, at the foot of the Piatra Craiului Mountains.

The traditional mountain village is known as the first officially recognised tourist village in Romania. To this day, Sirnea has preserved much of its rural character, with traditional houses, beautiful nature and a peaceful atmosphere.

The surrounding area is ideal for walks and hikes, with beautiful views of the Carpathian Mountains.

The Dino Parc in Rasnov

Dinosaurs amongst trees, narrow forest paths and plenty of nature: at the Dino Parc Rasnov near Rasnov (Rosenau), you can experience the prehistoric world in a unique way.

The park has life-size dinosaur models, including Tyrannosaurus rex and Stegosaurus. Some of the dinosaurs are animated and make sounds, making them look and feel more lifelike.

As well as the dinosaurs, the park also features climbing courses, play areas, slides and other attractions for the whole family.

The White Tower of Brasov

High above the old town of Brasov (German: Kronstadt, Hungarian: Brasso) stands the White Tower, one of the city’s most striking vantage points.

The tower was built in the 15th century. Its massive, semi-circular structure, comprising several storeys, still bears witness today to the defensive capabilities of centuries past. The thick walls feature arrow slits and traces of the old fortifications.

A fireplace inside serves as a reminder that guards were once stationed here to watch over the tower, even during the colder months. Over the years, the building has been repaired on several occasions.

Today, the White Tower is open to visitors and offers a unique view of Kronstadt and the surrounding Carpathian Mountains.

Poiana Brasov | Varful Postavaru (1,799 metres)

At 1,799 metres, Varful Postavaru is the highest peak of the Postavaru Massif in Poiana Brasov (German: Schulerau). Poiana Brasov lies just 10 kilometres southwest of Brasov and is a popular destination in both summer and winter. The area around the Postavaru peak can be reached by cable car or explored via various hiking trails.
