The 21st World Cup will be held in Russia. The first match of the championship between the hosts of the tournament and Saudi Arabia will be held June 14, 2018 at the stadium Luzhniki, which also hosted the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in 1980. The stadium itself was closed in 2013 for reconstruction, it now fully meets all international football standards: capacity has been increased to 81,000 people and the review of the field itself has been improved - the treadmills have been removed and the angle of the stands has changed.
The tournament will be held in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg. Football matches will take 12 arenas - two in Moscow and one in the other cities-organizers. The second Moscow stadium was built in 2014 and is the home arena of the largest Russian football club "Spartak". Its capacity is 45 thousand people.
