The winter navigation to Kizhi Island from the neigbouring village Velikaya Guba has been opened!

Velikaya Guba is located 270 km from Petrozavodsk, and it will take you 4 hours to get there. It is an ancient village with history and traditions. We also include a traditional lunch with national dishes at a local house for you to have some rest after quite a long road and before you depart for Kizhi Island.

Tours to Kizhi Island from Velikaya Guba are already available on our website. Since 01.06.2021 the gem of the Russian wooden architecture, the Church of the Transfiguration on Kizhi Island, is open for public.

After 40 years of being closed and a long restoration process the church once again impresses its guests with the stunning wooden iconostasis, which includes 104 icons in gilded carved frames.

The church is open only during the summer navigation, when hydrofoils run daily from Petrozavodsk to Kizhi Island.

Please note, that the entrance ticket to the Kizhi Museum does not include a visit to the Church of the Transfiguration. You need to buy an additional ticket to enter this church.

Important information❗ New rules for accommodation at hotels, cottages, hostels, and guesthouses in Karelia❗

Since July, 15 all travelers must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative result of a PCR-test done not earlier than 72 hours prior to the first check-in on the territory of Karelia.

A negative result of a PCR-test for children over 14 years old is also obligatory.
