Susan Rowley, Norwegian Star, 11 May, 2013: "Have just returned from a cruise around the Baltic sea. We booked one of your full-day excursions on Saturday 11 May in St Petersburg. Due to problems with Russian immigration, we were about an hour late meeting our guide, but she was most welcoming - and still waiting for us! To our delight the mini-bus was just for our party of 3, so we had Katya and our driver to ourselves for a whole day. Truly unforgettable. She took us round as many sites as possible in the 8-hour excursion (down to 7 thanks to the problems disembarking).
Katya has an excellent command of English and explained everything in an interesting and enthusiastic manner. She took us to a local cafe for lunch and ate with us. St Petersburg is jaw-droppingly beautiful, but she took us quickly and confidently through the queues and made the absolute most of our time there. We visited the Hermitage and went to see a selection of the major works, it was breathtaking! The whole day could be summed up as "exhausting, but exhilarating". Many thanks to Katya and our driver for a day to remember.
The following day we took a pre-booked excursion from our ship to Catherine's Palace. It was good, but with 30 people to shepherd around, there was no comparison with the service we had received the previous day.
