Tyva republic is an absolute highlight of South-Siberian part of Russia yet not universally recognized as a travel gem.

🔆It is a land of steppe and mountains with the very original culture of indigenous population. The climate here is influenced by the abundance of mountains which results in very cold winters and extremely hot summers. It is thus recommended to visit the region in early autumn or late spring.

🔆Tyva is famous with its numerous shamanism and Buddhism spots, as well as authentic nature that has hardly been touched by men, since there are no huge manufacturing spots in this region.

🔆Kyzyl is the capital of Tyva and claims to be at the exact center of Asia having the monument with the same name. Kyzyl hosts a Chief Shaman Center where one might even have a chance to see the Chief Shaman and get his audience.

🔆At the center of Kyzyl you will find the famous Buddhist prayer wheel. Among the major tourist attractions in Tyva is Tere-Khol lake with the purest water and rare animals and plants, the Valley of the Tsars, the burial mounds that are around three thousand years old, and a lot more.

Altai is the republic in the Eastern Siberian part of Russia.

🌲As the Far East, it is famous with its nature and the mystic spirit of shamanism. It is considered as the place of power. Altai mountains are called the Russian Switzerland, Russian Tibet or Russian New Zealand because of its beauty and richness. The capital of Altai region, Gorno-Altaysk, is the only city in this region, and it is almost the only essential point about it. To discover Altai, it is better to go directly to the nature.

🌲One of the most popular travelers’ activities are mountain hiking routes which will show you mountain landscapes, caves, waterfalls, rivers and unique flora and fauna. Many travel gems of Altai are connected to water, so it is recommended to visit this region in summer.

🌲Among the places to visit is Chemal, the recreation center with lots of tourist camps, hiking, rafting on the river Katun, eco-tourism and various other activities. Close to Chemal you can find the island Patmos with the wooden church. The way to the island is along the hanging walking bridge that opens a fantastic view on the river Katun.

20/03/2020

Russia has 11 time zones. Every zone has the same time on its territory. In Russia time is not adjusted to winter/summer time, thus time difference with some countries may change in one hour on autumn and spring.

Together with the international time system based on Greenwich meridian (UTC), Russia has its own scale with the baseline Moscow time (MSK). Thus, the time in Kaliningrad can be described as UTC+2 (meaning that in Kaliningrad it is 2 hours more than in the UK) or as MSK-1 (one hour less than in Moscow).

1️⃣Time zones and transport

Important to know: plane and train tickets have local time. Before 2018 trains in Russia departed and arrived at Moscow time because the unified time was considered as more convenient to manage the system of train traffic. .

2️⃣Travelling and time zones

If you travel within the particular regions of Russia, you may not necessarily witness the difference of the time in various time zones. For example, if you take a Golden Ring tour and visit Moscow, Yaroslavl, Rostov the Great, you will stay within the Moscow time. The same story if you visit the Russian South: you will not need to adjust your watch from the Moscow time as you will be in its realm. However, as soon as you take a longer trip such as Trans-Siberian Railtrip, you will be able to experience difference time zones. You will start from Moscow with baseline Moscow time, then proceed to Ekaterinburg where it is going to be 2 hours more than in Moscow (MSK+2), then to Krasnoyarsk (MSK+4), Irkutsk (MSK+5) and finish in Vladivostok where the time difference with baseline time will be 7 hours.

3️⃣Travelling with the train, you really experience the size of the country and its expansion. Though taking a plane, you will also experience a curious effect: if you fly from Moscow to the East, then you will lag behind the time and you will land in Vladivostok with seven hours of time lag. Alternatively, if you fly back to Moscow you are ahead of time: you may take off in Vladivostok at 10 a.m. at local time, spend about 8 hours at the plane and land in Moscow approximately at 11 a.m. (MSK). Feels like an eternally long day!

15/03/2020

1️⃣Keep in mind, that your visa is valid only for one of the areas – if it is issued for Saint Petersburg, you are not allowed to visit other e-visa areas (Kaliningrad or Far East) and it is prohibited to leave the area of your stay, so if you stay in Saint Petersburg, you are not allowed to visit Moscow. All passports are being checked in each airport and railway station even for domestic departures so there is no way to cheat.

2️⃣Also, you need to calculate the duration of your stay: the allowed period of stay with an e-visa is up to 8 days which does not mean 192 hours: no matter what time you arrive on Monday, you should leave the country not later than the next Monday. However, there is one more rule applied: if you enter on Monday but your visa expires on Wednesday, then Wednesday can be the last day of your stay.

3️⃣Remember that the e-visa is valid only for one entry, so once you passed the passport control point and left the territory of Russian Federation, you are not allowed to enter again with the same e-visa. There is no official information on whether there is any restriction on how often you can apply for e-visas so just keep in mind the common rule of 90 days within 180 days. If the duration of your stay in the last 180 days has not exceeded 90 days (with any type of visa), you can apply for another e-visa right after you leave Russia.

4️⃣For all the visitors to Russia crossing its borders a valid medical insurance is necessary, so doublecheck that your whole stay is covered, and you have it printed. If you don’t, it might be a serious reason to reject entry.

5️⃣Please note, that as in any other country, officers have a right to deny your entry if they suspect that your purpose of stay is other than the one mentioned in your visa application or that you somehow might be a threat to the country’s safety. But if you are a traveler eager to see Russia’s famous beauty then you have nothing to worry about.

Enjoy your stay!😃

How to apply?🙋

To start, go to the official web-page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, choose your nationality and an area to visit. The interface is user friendly and is fully translated into English.

✅You should submit your application for an e-visa not earlier than 20 days and not later than 4 days before the planned date of arrival. Before applying doublecheck your passport as it must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you apply for an e-visa and have free space for border crossing stamps. Make sure to consult the list of border crossing points where e-visas are accepted on the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before planning your trip. Pay attention that Moscow airports are not on the list and that you cannot enter Leningrad region and Saint Petersburg by train.

✅When filling all the necessary fields, please make sure that your surname and name are entered correctly, using only the basic Latin letters as indicated in the first machine-readable line of your passport (the white area with a lot of letters and numbers that you see in the bottom of your passport when you open the page containing your photo), as for some countries names may contain letters with diacritics which cannot be used while filling in an application, so this first machine-readable line of your passport shows you exactly the way you should write your name. So far, this is the most common mistake that leads to rejection while crossing the border.

✅Submitting your application, it is mandatory to choose you gender: male or female, as mentioned in the passport. If the information provided does not correspond to your passport details, your entry will be denied.

✅To apply it is necessary to provide a photo in the JPEG format following all the requirements: the photo must be taken in the last six months, there should be no other objects in the background, you should look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, your natural skin color should be seen clearly and the format must be 35x45. Remember, all these requirements are really important and your application can be rejected if your face is not clearly visible.
