PRIVATE TOURS TO PAVLOVSK PALACE AND PARK

The construction of favorite summer residence of the Russian emperor and the Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Paul I, was carried out for 4 years and was completed in 1786. In these luxurious halls, the Romanovs spent most of the summer, and when the weather got cold, they returned to the city – to the Winter Palace.

Pavlovsky Palace occupies a central place in the palace and park ensemble. It stands on a hill and its light sand-colored walls are visible from anywhere in the park. The architect of the building in the neoclassical style was the Scottish architect Charles Cameron. He created a palace which resembles one of the country villas in Italy.

Pavlovsk Private Tour will open up to you the Russian`s heritage. In 4 hours you will visit the palace and walk through the park of the Museum-Reserve.

HERMITAGE CATS

We all know the Hermitage. But few people are aware that the Hermitage is unique due to the fact that not only art works, but also cats have found their dwelling within its walls.

Not far from the place where Millionnaya Street takes its start, outside the cast-iron gate, a dozen cats in collars sunbathe on the pavement. They are the most important and cool cats in Russia. They guard the country’s cultural heritage.

Hermitage cats are a little-known landmark of the Main Russian Museum, no less important than the paintings of Rembrandt and Picasso.

WHITE NIGHTS IN ST. PETERSBURG 2019

The white nights are a natural phenomenon, during which natural light remains high, and the whole night consists of twilight from dusk to dawn. During this period, the solar disk doesn’t actually go beyond the horizon line. The time of the white nights and their duration depends on the geographical location.

The official period of the White Nights in St. Petersburg is from June 11 to July 2, although in fact, the sun in the city and its suburbs don’t go beyond the horizon from May 26 to July 16.

June 22, the day of the summer solstice, it begins to get dark at 22:23, sunset and dawn coincide – 00:02. On this day, the sun actually doesn’t leave the St. Petersburg sky, and you can admire it for 24 hours.

ANNENKIRCHE

Built in stone, the church of St. Anne was consecrated in 1779. The building project was designed by architect Yuri Felten. It has its own zest: the construction has two equivalent facades facing different streets: Kirochnaya and Furshtatskaya. The appearance of the temple fits into the canons of that time. It is decorated with Ionic columns and a hexagonal round tower crowning the building.

A remarkable detail of the Annenkirche interior is the Ionic colonnade. It supports the arch of the vast hall, which can simultaneously accommodate about one and a half thousand visitors. But the most important decoration of this place is the large altar painting “Ascension of Christ”, made by E. Lipgart.

The Lutheran church of Annenkirche cannot be found on the “tourist gems” map, the path to it is not trodden by all-knowing guides. Meanwhile, this church is unique, with an unusual fate. Since its foundation in 1775, there were different Read More
