The church was dedicated to be a memorial to Alexander II who was fatally wounded on this site 🇫🇷 La cathédrale Saint-Sauveur-sur-le-Sang-Versé est l'une des principales églises russes orthodoxes de Saint-Pétersbourg. 🇬🇧The residence originated in 1717, when Catherine I of Russia hired German architect Johann-Friedrich Braunstein to construct a summer palace for her pleasure. Palace. Empress Elizabeth, however, found her mother's residence outdated and in May 1752 asked her court architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli to demolish the old structure and replace it with a much grander edifice in a flamboyant Rococo style. 🇫🇷 Le premier palais a été fondé en 1717 sous la direction de l'architecte allemand Johann Friedrich Braunstein en tant que résidence d'été de l'impératrice Catherine I. Mais c'est sous l'impératrice Elizabeth Petrovna que le palais acquit son apparence et son style actuel. En mai 1752, elle a chargé l'architecte Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli de reconstruire le palais.
