After 152 days, 21,034 miles (33,851 km), 13 countries, 11 time zones, through mud, water, snow, sand and extremely rough roads with only 1 worn CV joint , 1 puncture, 1 cracked winscreen, 1 noisy power steering pump and 4 light bulbs..... we have made it to Vladivostok! Not bad for our old Hilux

We had the news yesterday that we cannot ship our car from Magadan to Australia, so we have decided to drive all the way back along the NEW Road of Bones to the Trans Siberian Highway and to Vladivostok. We hope to ship sometime around 9th September, so more Russian fun to come.

After 5 long days on the original road, and 11 days without a shower, we have safely completed the 'Road of Bones' without injury or damage to the truck.

We travelled north from the 'Trans-Siberian Highway' from a place ironically called 'Never' to Yakutsk- the coldest city on the planet. In Yakutsk, the houses are on stilts due to the 'permafrost' which lies just beneath the ground. In winter temperatures drop to -50 degrees, however when we were there it was +32 degrees. One local told us that the last foreigner that they knew of came through Yakutsk 6 years ago and asked if we knew them- we didn't.

From Yakutsk we travelled north for a few days before heading east along the 'Old Summer Road' which is the unmaintaned, abandoned section of ' The Road of Bones'. After a few days delay due to high river levels and essential bridge building we completed the road on 10 August with a little help from a few friendly hunters.

We are now in Magadan (literally the end of the raod) and hope to ship the truck from here to Australia.

PS- We saw a bear and it was friggin massive!
