Visiting Central Africa’s largest protected wetland and the only savannah grassland in Rwanda is a fantastic chance to see wild game and birdlife.

Akagera National Park is home to the Big Five, giraffes, and more.

Akagera is a working example of sustainable and responsible tourism. From its poor state in the early 1990s, the park is now a conservation success story that ensures local employment and benefits Rwanda as a whole.

Overnight stays benefit from a chance to take in a dawn and dusk drive, catching sight of some of the park’s most elusive wildlife, including the big cats.

Our favorite places to stay are located within the park boundaries so that you fall asleep under the mesmerizing sounds of the African bush.

Giraffes, also known as the Silent Giants have a unique fact that they have the same number of vertebrae in their neck as humans, despite their long necks.

This means they have seven vertebrae, but each one can be significantly longer, contributing to their overall neck length.

Excellent choice to organize a Rwanda trip.

I did the Kigali city tour and a visit to the Gorillas, all of which were arranged by Go Further. Desiree was excellent, and the days were well organized.

She was flexible in her plans to match my interests — including a very interesting art gallery and a woman’s collective craft center. She spent a lot of time with me, and was always in good company.

A very good experience!

Great Guiding + Unique and Interesting City Tour!

I am so impressed with Go Further! I had the pleasure of going on the full day Kigali City Tour and the Akagera safari day trip with them and wish I had booked a longer trip with their guides and services for my time in Rwanda.

From the very moment I reached out, the Go Further team was extremely responsive, detailed, and professional while providing me with additional details and responding to my multiple questions. When I (hopefully!) return to Rwanda, I won’t hesitate to reach out to them again.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Kigali city tour. Although there aren’t a ton of traditional “tourist sites”, the tour does an excellent job of giving you perspective of daily life and culture in Kigali.

We drove through multiple neighborhoods making big and small stops along the way – I especially loved the stop at the market and local milk bar and simply watching the chaos of life going by out the window of the car.

Eric was an incredible guide – extremely personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about all different aspects of the tour. He is also an excellent conversationalist and simply talking with him was a highlight of the day. A great guide makes all the difference!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in giving me such a memorable time in Rwanda!

I can’t recommend Go Further enough.

Akagera National Park is the only place in Rwanda where you can see giraffes, and it's the only savannah national park in the country.

Giraffes live in the savannah grassland and woodland vegetation, where they can feed and move freely.

They are herbivores that primarily eat leaves and twigs of acacia and wild apricot trees.

Akagera National Park in Rwanda is home to a growing population of African savannah elephants, with over 140 individuals.

Visitors can experience the thrill of seeing elephants on game drives in Akagera, especially in the southern part of the park.

Akagera National Park is recognized as one of Africa's most protected national parks, and the growing elephant population is a testament to successful conservation efforts.

All within a few days, experience the very best of the country’s capital and an African safari in Akagera.

Set off for Akagera National Park’s rolling grasslands, lakes and wetlands teeming with wildlife.

The National Park is home to the Big Five, as well as giraffes, baboons, zebras and several antelopes, while the southern Lake Ihema is an ideal habitat for hippos and crocodiles.

With several nights in the park, you’ll have plenty of time for game drives at dawn and dusk – the best time to catch a glimpse of some of the more elusive species.

Trip of a Lifetime!

Desiree & Eric were our guides for a business trip plus a family extension in Rwanda & I can’t speak highly enough about the both of them. Desiree continuously went above & beyond to fit our needs all while showing us beautiful Rwanda.

From the city tour to Musanze to Akagera - I’m so grateful we booked with Go Further & had Desiree as our guide.

Everything was planned seamlessly, allowing us to enjoy vacation while still seeing all the sights. Her knowledge on the history, the animals, the culture - everything, top notch. I can’t wait to go back to Kigali & have told all my friends that Go Further & Des ensured we had a perfect time.

Also shoutout to our amazing drivers! I always felt comfortable & safe (and well-fed!). Thank you for sharing Rwanda with us❤️

TripAdvisor Review, March 2025

Many wonderful experiences over the years:

I've been coming to Kigali for years often with new groups of people for business. Every year, I book a tour for the group with Go Further because I've had such wonderful experiences with the team.

Desiree, Eric, and Muzamiru are all excellent guides who genuinely want you to have a good time. I've done the gorillas trek once, and multiple safari and city tours with them. They are all very knowledgeable, excellent at spotting animals that I would've not been able to see through the bushes, and they make the experience a blast. It's also so nice that they work with our hotel to get us breakfast for the early mornings.

Thank you to Xavi as well for helping us book our tours and always instantly responding to any questions. I highly recommend their group and will definitely encourage my friends and colleagues to travel with them in the future so that they will get to enjoy the great experiences I've had as well.
