Gorilla Passion Project

It is now with the official press release from Zoo Frankfurt, that I can tell you that Dian gave birth on March 1, 2017 to twins. Unfortunately, one of the twins has passed away. The twins were small and quite weak. After the death of one baby, and Dian somewhat withdrawn, the decision was made to intervene and provide medical care to the remaining baby, which is a girl. Dian is being provided the best of care as well, and the team will be watching her closely. Gorillas have a grieving process just as humans do so the entire group is being monitored closely.

I know some of you are new to the page and may not be aware that Dian gave birth to twins last year as well. The first twin died a day after birth, the second twin, Vutu, died at about 4 months old.
