Gorilla trekking early in the morning is one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in Rwanda. The day starts at 7:00 am with a briefing and group allocation, placing you in the forest while the gorillas are still active and close to their overnight nests.

Preparation plays a big role in the experience. With the right gear, sturdy boots, long layers, and rain protection, you move comfortably through changing terrain and weather, allowing you to focus on the tracking itself.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, shaped by the gorillas’ movement on the day. When you finally reach them, you spend one hour observing their routines up close, feeding, resting, and interacting within the group. It is this combination of early start, physical effort, and quiet observation that makes the experience stay with you long after the trek ends.
