“I walked into a cafe in Buenos Aires around 2pm, expecting a quirky coffee spot. Instead, I found myself in a dimly lit room, hidden behind tinted windows, where professionals sipped coffee served by women in revealing outfits. It was quite a contrast to the coffee culture of London where the focus is on quality and efficiency.“

Born in Chile in the 1940s and becoming popular in Buenos Aires in the 1980s, this tradition, Café con Piernas, is tied to a controversial history of objectification. Over time, it became woven into the fabric of the city’s cafe culture, drawing both locals and curious tourists.

Most people wouldn’t expect a background in law enforcement and corporate security to lead to a life of offbeat travel, but that’s exactly how it happened. My work took me to high-risk regions, navigating complex environments and seeing places few ever do, such as Afghanistan. That experience sparked something in me, a deep appreciation for off-the-beaten-path travel and the kind of connections you make when you step beyond the ordinary.

Now, I’m bringing professionals along for the ride, with a focus on adventure, meaningful experiences, and most importantly, safety. With my background in security, I ensure every trip is not only exciting but also thoughtfully managed so you can explore with confidence.

Travel changed my perspective, shaped my resilience, and became a driving force for personal growth. Now I’m sharing that with others, with a special focus on Latin America, my favourite region. No gatekeeping, just an open invitation to explore differently.

“Confession time. 10 years ago yesterday, I was given One Hundred Years of Solitude as a birthday present…and I never read it. I had been warned about the complexities of the Buendia family tree, so I kept putting it off - my short attention span just wasn’t going to play. When I heard Netflix was releasing a high-budget adaptation in December 2024, I was excited to finally experience the story.

It started off slow for my liking but I’m so glad I stuck with it. The more I watched, the more I got pulled into the world of Macondo and invested in the characters. The stunning costumes, incredible setting and hypnotic storytelling completely won me over. Now I can’t wait for the next season.

Unlike La Primera Vez, this one is based on a literary masterpiece. One Hundred Years of Solitude is a cornerstone of Colombian literature, taught in schools much like Shakespeare in the UK. Seeing it brought to life on screen is a huge moment for Latin American storytelling and well worth watching.

“I’ve been gatekeeping La Primera Vez for a while now, and it’s time to share. I started watching it when I was in Mexico and had got locked out of my room (story for another time). I had to wait for the locksmith to arrive (on Mexican time IYKYK) and with potentially hours to fill, I got sucked in fast and ended up binge-watching it every evening after long days of exploring. It became my time to decompress before sleep, and honestly, it was such a treat!

Transporting you to 1970s Colombia, La Primera Vez tells the story of Eva and Camilo. Eva is the rebellious, mysterious girl who breaks the rules and stereotypes, enrolling as the only girl in a school of 600 boys(!). Camilo is a peculiar, shy boy who has never experienced love and inevitably falls for Eva. As Camilo tries to win her heart, Eva causes havoc in school - teaching her classmates about desire, relationships, intimacy and the complexities of life. The series also weaves in the political and cultural shifts of 1970s Colombia, giving it an extra layer of depth.

I watched Series 2 on Netflix UK so hoping it’s still on. My friend’s dad rated it too, so it really is for everyone! S”
